Wasn't compatible, but Skylink works
I ordered this with a Skylink control unit, only to find it wasn't compatible with the control unit. Don't tell me how that can be, but oh well. I sent it back and Amazon was fantastic about refunding me. I wrote this review to say I've purchased other Skylink items (control unit, sensors) and they've worked fantastically. I would only assume this unit is just as good.

Be careful to make sure your wireless security system will work with this door sensor
What can one say? its simple in design and functions okay without issue for me. Just make sure that your wireless security system will work with the door sensor. There seems to be different frequencies that are used and some panels will not work. You have to match the door sensor with the security system you have, Best to check the documentation that came with your security panel and go online and find the manual for this door sensor before committing to the purchase....

Range is limited
Unlike the Skylink motion detectors, this unit does not seem to have a very good range as far as transmitting the wireless signal to the base. Kinda renders it useless if you can't get the signal to the base. Mine is approx 25 to 30 feet from the base thru one wall and the connection is intermittent at best - even with new batteries.

This garage door monitor is shown on the web site as being "also ordered with" the Skylink GM-318R Household Alert Receiver. HOWEVER, the GS-101 AAA* DOES NOT WORK with the GM-318R receiver. You must order the SkyLink Model GM-318R, which currently is not available thru Amazon.com. I ordered that receiver directly from SkyLink, and it was very easy to set up and works just fine,

Operated infallibly for years.
This operated infallibly for years, reminding me when my garage door was open. Needs a receiver. If you have a door which tilts up, Skylink makes another, newer product that is a purpose-made tilt sensor that does not use a plunger.

Works well, but short lived.
Works well, but not as long as I would like. My unit broke within the first month of use, the plastic frame is rather fragile. I was able to duct tape it together and it lasted for over a year until the electronics failed. Is it worth it? Well, I am about to order another, so I would say it is worth the price.

Do not install directly.on a metal garage door that is exposed to sun. Instructions should stated this. Heat damaged the electronic circuitry.
