The built in trigger igniter is a real convenience feature. This one works well and ignited the torch flame every time.The flame is less “sharp”, less focused than my old Bernz-o-matic torch. When aiming both the old and new torches at heavy sheet metal, they created a bright glowing surface in about the same time but this torch created a larger glowing area.I will probably keep both torches in my shop. The new torch head will be my goto because of the ease of the instant start feature and the broader flame will be ideal for pipe soldering and heating larger surfaces. But when I need to heat a small area I will likely grab the old torch [and striker].

This is an awesome torch lighter. It works great outside for our grill and for my husband’s many projects.

I own a few types of propane and MAP torches and this is my favorite for soldering copper pipes, or any intermittent operation. Once the gas valve is adjusted the torch lights and extinguishes by pressing and releasing the igniter button. It’s great for one hand, on off operation. Other types of torches have igniter buttons but the gas continues to flow until the valve is closed. They have their uses also, and are better for long burn times. This torch does have a button lock that keeps it burning without holding the igniter down, but it is a two hand operation to engage it. A single press of the igniter releases it.It’s rated for propane and MAP gasses, although I’ve heard that the old, pure MAP canisters are no longer available and have been replaced with a mix that is mostly propane in a yellow canister. It would explain why these duel fuel torches have replaced the yellow MAP torches.It’s a heavy, well built torch. The valve is smooth and seals shut with little pressure. The head and stem are thick enough to hold up to abuse.

This is a really, really solid piece of equipment. The instructions weren't completely clear, but if you've ever used a propane torch in the past, you'll find this one to be a perfect addition. When I placed this onto a propane bottle and fired it up the flame was instantaneous and powerful. It can be adjusted by opening and closing the valve, but for most of my projects that won't be necessary. Note that the product description page shows that the nozzle can be replaced, which might be something you'll want to do if you use your torch in a way that requires spreading the flame, a nozzle like those that come with most heat guns nowadays. I don't have that particular need right now, but it's nice to know that I can get a different style nozzle should it be needed. Overall, one of the best torches I've used!

Had other torches in the past but never had one this deluxe, the torch is made of sturdy cast aluminum, brass and stainless steel construction. One of the best features is the ignition and extinguishing can be done with one hand and gas shuts off automatically without having to close valve manually. The flame can be locked on with one press on the lock button, the igniter is rated for 500k times. I would definitely recommend this product if you’re looking for a quality tool.

This thing is sweet. It’s well built. I hope I don’t have to buy another ever again.
