it does record it on its own, which is then synced to the phone. You can also use just the phone if you forgot to wear your watch or charge it, which is nice because with fitbit sense the batterly life was awful. The battery life on this watch is great, maybe charging it 1-2 times a week depending on activity level Love it btw, way better than fitbit in my opinion!

How do you connect to the watch's hotspot

The GTR 4 Limited Edition does not have a wifi hotspot. Please note the connection is only used for transferring MP3 music files from your smartphone to your watch.
