Robby [DVD] 1982
Here is a DVD worthy of 5 stars in which Robby (Warren Raum) is stranded on a Island after his life boat drifts ashore. At first Robby is frightened by the human remains of bones and fears cannibals inhabited the Island. However his mind is at ease when he finds a friendship with another native his age and names him Friday (Ryp Siani). Friday was brought to the Island by his Mother but she died and was buried in a nearby cave. Friday was rendered an orphan. Robby was the lone survivor when the ship sank where he and his parents were passengers. Now Robby is an orphan also. No doubt this DVD movie is a modified Golden Book for Children of the classic book, Robinson Crusoe. It is a marvelous rendition of an island paradise. There are numerous scenes of nude innocence including frontal nudity (without any sexual activity) to portray the island paradise both boys live in and help each other to survive from daily forays for food, danger from snakes, and finding shelter. They are rescued by another explorer who knew Robby's deceased parents. He takes Robby - including Friday - back to civilization to live with Robby's relatives. An excellent movie for viewers of all ages to learn survival and friendship. The acting by both boys - Warren and Ryp - is exceptional for their age.

Timeless nostalgia. A movie with soul and old fashioned beauty.
This dvd came in perfect condition and was played its first day home. It was a bit fuzzy, but likely, the year it was filmed, had plenty to do with how the film was produced...so it was fine for its day and time. Also I wondered if it was restored from an original or several copies perhaps. Still it was a beautiful film to watch. Very well written and acted by "serious normal" people. I was so surprised as it didn't seem to go over the top at all and everyone acted their parts without pushing to comply with the director it seemed....as it flowed so well from scene to scene. A movie with true emotion and heart should be veiwed by all ages and families! Bravo to the courage of those creating this movie and all the actors. I'm so glad I lived long enough to see this gental loving movie full of danger and innocent beauty. This movie has a soul and spirit that soars above any negative criticism directed at it. I hope many others get a chance to see this as I was fortunate to find it and watch. Thank you.

Sweetly innocent film
The plot was a bit awkward, and the acting was just OK -- nothing special -- but the overall impression was one of sweet innocence, despite the nudity.

Not worth watching
Neither youngster did well before the camera. I can't see this appealing to anyone over 5 or 6.

Not enough of what you might want to see.
If you buy movies like this, you probably want to see certain things. You know what I mean. There is a bit of that from both Robby and his island friend, but really, the Photo Gallery was better.

A very fun classic movie!
I’m glad to have learned about this movie. A boy gets stranded on a remote island and befriends a boy he names Friday. He teaches him to talk, and in return, he teaches him to swim. They even hang out naked together at times. And when a stranger arrives on the island, they’re taken back to civilization. This is a beautiful classic movie that shouldn’t be missed.

A beautiful story.
ROBBY1968I found this gem on an internet search. Yes there is an excess of child nudity. It is done with youthful innocence and the freedom that we as adults have forgotten. A beautiful story portrayed by wonderful child actors whose innocence leaves one wishing they could return to that special time once again. Warren Raum as Robby gives such a natural performance that makes nudity a common life event. The story ends on a happy note.Parents may want to watch this before they show to children and decide if their child is mature enough to handle nudity.

The story was simple and a delight..
The story was simple and a delight . . . the nudity was in good taste and reasonable for the scenes that it was in.
