If you want a quick and easy way to extend a hose, then a barb union such is a quick and easy way to join 2 together.In this particular pack you get 8 x Brass unions – these are essentially a brass tube with ribs on either side that you push into the pipe. The ribs help to add grip and you then secure each side using a jubilee climp (the pack comes with 16 appropriately sized clamps).***** In The Box *****8 x Brass Unions12 x Clamps***** Conclusion *****I picked these up to create a longer hose pipe for my partner to use at her allotment.The barbs are a little smaller in diameter than I expected and flop around in what I would say is a standard diameter hose pipe – the description does state they are 10mm, but I incorrectly presumed they would be the correct size.I have actually managed to force it to fit by really clamping the hose tight, which does actually work without any leaks, but it’s not quite how it’s supposed to be and of course the smaller diameter also reduces water flow a little.I like that the set comes with 12 clamps and for just £4.79, I think they offer great value for money.
