Pleasantly surprised
Tyre Pressure Monitor Sensor Review: Cheap, Dubious… and Surprisingly Spot-On I’ll be honest — I was sceptical from the start. The price tag on these tyre pressure monitor sensors was suspiciously low, and I half expected them to be a waste of time. You know the type: flimsy packaging, vague instructions, and that nagging feeling I’d be back online hunting for a proper set within a week. But credit where it’s due — they proved me wrong. Installation? A breeze. No faffing about with coding, pairing, or obscure diagnostic tools. I had them fitted by my local tyre shop for £22.50 per wheel & this included wheel ballancing. Once fitted I jumped in the car, initiated the tyre pressure reset, and drove off. That was it. No drama, no error messages, no need to consult a YouTube guru or to pay for coding. They synced up flawlessly, and readings have been consistent. I’ve tested them across different pressures and conditions, and they’ve held up without a hitch. For something that felt like a gamble, they’ve delivered exactly what I needed — reliable, fuss-free monitoring without the premium price tag. If you’re on the fence because they seem “too cheap to be good,” I get it. I was there. But sometimes, simple just works and this was one of those times.

Excellent Budget Merc TPMS solution
The Mercedes original sensors cost £75 each so 4 for £28 was worth a punt. My garage fitted them with a set of new tyres on my 2017 W213 E220D. I activated the TPMS reset process via the dashboard (using the right steering wheel control to access service menu, then Tyres, then scroll down to the reset option. I was hopeful but sceptical. After about 10 minutes driving the new sensors were detected and the pressure reading appeared as normal. I used my OBD2 analyser to check the status of each sensor and I noticed one showed a low battery reading. However, by the time I returned home and did a recheck all the sensors were showing they were fully charged. I suspect the low battery reading was the sensor waking up for the first time. Anyway I'm very happy with the result and will definitely go for the budget option again. That said, I think TPMS is a total waste of time and nothing more than an over complication of a simple process of checking tyre pressures manually. Lets face it for about 10 or 20 minutes the TPMS doesn't send a signal and by that time you could be on a motorway driving at 70mph with a flat tyre. I'm sorry but the whole system is flawed and pointless. The fact that it can result in a failed MOT is utterly ridiculous. Who's with me?
