Best gift I’ve ever bought myself as an ADHD brained individual
This is the best gift I’ve ever bought for myself. I couldn’t get myself to read and always wanted to read at night but also didn’t want to turn lights on or have blue light from my phone. This is the perfect balance where I can access all my books quickly in one place and change from light mode to dark mode, depending on day or night. It’s also the perfect thing to do when on the toilet as opposed to playing games or going on social media. HIGHLY recommend.

Great product. no wireless charging capability!!!
kindles have come a long way since i first got one many years ago. i love the settings they have for the kids now. i have control and access to everything. setup was sooooo easy. these however do not have the wireless charging capability which is disappointing. kids are less likely to lose and keep up with the wireless charger. the listing suggested a wireless charger as an add on. we bought one then finally figured out it did not have that capability. since it’s an amazon product you figure that would be correct.no ads. no internet access. parent controls for time usage. can limit overall time and specific times for no screen time like bedtime.

My daughter loves this Kindle!
My daughter loves this Kindle! It is super fast, bright for when we are at the park. Easy to carry in purse or backpack. Haven't had any issues with freezing or audio quality.

Perfect for a Tween!
My ten year old loves her kindle. Very easy to set up and pair with family account. I love that she can choose her own books and downloads are fast.

Promotes more reading
My granddaughter loves this kindle. I love that she can't place an order without being pinged for my approval. I've noticed that she reads more and loves the act of browsing to pick out her next new book. It's convenient for busy guardians who can't always get to the library to pick-up a book!

Kindle is nice, but kids profile is annoying
This is a standard kindle with a cover. It got my 8-year-old into reading chapter books and he has already ripped through 3 Harry Potters and 4 Minecraft books since Christmas. He reads at night and the backlight works well for that.My biggest complaint is how locked down the kids profile is. First off, I cannot turn it off because apparently there is a PIN that neither my wife nor I set and it doesn't match our Prime Video PIN. I can deregister and re-register it, but that is a pain. Secondly, I cannot send epub file to his kindle like I can to any normal Kindle. I can only share books that I've purchased through Amazon. Nice way to lock them down and pretend it is a feature. I did sign up for a few library cards because I can still share Libby purchases with him, but most of the books he wants have a long wait.If you want to be able to share your own books with your kids, or get them from sources other than Amazon or Libby, don't spend the extra money on the kids Kindle because it is a pain to turn off the Kids profile so they can access those books.

Got to sleep already!
In an age of screens, this is the one I want my kid to hide under the covers and view each night. Reading with comprehension is the #1 predictor of academic and job success according to studies. This version of the Kindle is just right for our newest reader in the family. Amazon Kids+ is free for six months when you buy it (and he's already hooked enough to want a subscription). It also can be used with our local library to download books directly to it from our Amazon account. The nice thing is that Amazon also removes all of the ads from this kids version so there isn't any coercion to buy more stuff. Our new reader uses this nightly and not only does it help him develop skills for life, and entertain him, it also helps him fall asleep faster most nights. But, hey, if he stays up later reading, that's a price I'm happy to pay. You won't hear me say, "Go to sleep already!"

VERY DIFFICULT TO USE
this was a gift to my child. there are many things terrible with this product. I will list them here:1) the search is not a search. I searched for The Hobbit, hit the return button and got results for Spider Man, Harry Potter, etc. No where was I given options for the Hobbit other than in what appeared to be the suggested searches. Low and be hold apparently, that was the search. No place did it list out the options where I could clearly see prices and edition options.2) So I bought the Hobbit for like the 4th time in my life, yes its a favorite I have lots of different editions, and I said I wanted to assign it to my child's kindle. I synced the devices AND IT NEVER SHOWED UP. so I had to blindly click around in the Kindle book area of my desktop website for Amazon to find it and then there is another thing to click to send it to their device. This should not be a two step process.3) now the home tab of thee kids kindle isn't home. on an e-reader I expect to see my library of books I can read. no, it is a shopping center. to get to your library of books, you need to go into recent.4) there is no way to sync up my child's device with her library card through Libby, even though this is supposed to be an option via my library and the Libby programing.I am very sorry Amazon, get yourself together, clearly label things, make things user interface friendly this is a terrible product. I will not be buying a kindle for myself EVER.
