Concentrated soap is focused on cleaning glassware.
The picture of this product shows it in a paper carton. NOTHING could be farther from the truth. It arrived in a plastic container. This pleases me in 3 ways. 1) As the Chemist of DOOM, I like environmentally damaging things like plastic- I prefer plastic over paper, because paper is very ecologically friendly- it involves trees and sulfuric acid and stuff, all naturally occurring. Plus, paper manufacturing is easily powered by unicorn farts. Plastic is made with all artificial stuff like hydrocarbons. 2) A picture of a paper carton, actual product in plastic? False deceptive advertising. I like this too. 3) I haven't actually used any yet. True to form, when my experiments fail, I throw the glassware on the floor and break it. Not only does this look dramatic as heck, but it saves me from having to use my precious plasticized Alconox Detergent. Plus, I'm far too important to clean glassware. But I know this stuff works great- I used it last century when I was working on my B.S. Evil World Conquering Chemistry at the Royal University of Latveria. They made you pay for any glassware you broke there, so I couldn't just go around smashing stuff theatrically.

Great for cleaning extremely greasy stuff. Warning: phosphates!
I use this for cleaning extremely greasy things like hood filters, and greasy surfaces in the kitchen. It's extremely effective for cutting through the the goop that accumulates on the mesh in the filter. I just pre rinse the filter (with cold water to keep the grease from clogging the pipes), then I partly fill the sink, and finally I pour in a teaspoon of this stuff (pretty strong). After a bit of mixing, I start scrubbing, and I'm usually done in less than a minute! For surface cleaning, I mix up a bit of this stuff in a sprayer bottle and spray the surface I want to clean. Then I scrub/wipe it off with a paper towel (so I can dispose of it and keep it out of the sewer).NOTE THAT THIS IS A PHOSPHATE DETERGENT! You probably shouldn't use it for daily dishwashing, since phosphates are really bad for the environment - they cause nasty algae blooms and other eutrophication problems! If you don't want this stuff banned for home use, don't use tons of it. Also: if you live in areas where water treatment is marginal or with high levels of phosphates in groundwater probably think about using this stuff carefully!Update, a few years later: it turns out there are a few other specific uses that Alconox is excellent for. Cleaning chemical labware (which I need occasionally, testing my garden soils), and cleaning my CPAP/APAP machine. It turns out I have sleep apnea, which is quite a surprise for someone my age, but I'm benefitting quite a bit from CPAP therapy. These machines need to be cleaned frequently, and I can't afford leftover dirt, suds, or any kind of residue. I also can't use anything harsh, like bleach, and don't want to use any solvents like ammonia. Alconox was made for this. And it's perfect. I need very little of it - I'm still using the same bottle that I bought like 5 years ago now - and it means way less scrubbing and rinsing.

New plastic container to keep mousture out
Still the same great product that doesnt slowly damage my sleep mask which has non latex cushion inserts. Regular dish soap has fragances and other chemicals that will most likely have deleterious effects on my sleep cushion.

The world's best cleanser
I first learned about Alconox working in biochemistry labs. Glassware has to be clean - if not, your experiment is contaminated - and one of the first things I had to learn was how to hold up glass to the light and see whether or not the Alconox had removed every last trace of oil, grease, biofilm, all the contaminants. Clean glass has a particular sparkle and once you've seen it you can always recognize it.The enviro-Nazis, meanwhile, decided that phosphates are so terrible for the environment that - while corporations are still permitted to discharge them by the megaton - my scant use of a few ounces of them per month in my dish detergent would be forbidden. Well, I can't stand hypocrisy and I can't abide being regulated for an ounce while the polluters get by with a ton. So I bought Alconox and use a teaspoon to supplement my phosphate-free dish detergent; my dishes have never looked cleaner. You can also use Alconox to clean nearly anything by hand. Though it's bleach-free, it's the only thing for cleaning our white porcelain kitchen sink - it won't damage the surface, just get it white again. And for our Riedel wine glasses (along with a Riedel drying microfiber) - there is nothing even close; Alconox is sovereign.I imagine eventually they'll outlaw it entirely. Stock up while you can!

Piercer approved
Have used this for years as a piercer. It works well and you don’t need much. I just wish it came with a scooper to measure how much you are using. Overall great product, great clean, and great value.

best cleaner i've used so far
i got this cleaner for cleaning my tattoo grips and tips. this cleaner cleans very well. the cleaning powder that came w/ my sterilizer is crap compared to Alconox. the generic cleaner that came w/ my sterilizer, i had to run my stuff thru more then 10 times to get it clean, and even then, some of it still had a lil speck here or there of ink on a tip..and i used hot water too.however w/ alconox, i ran my stuff thru about maybe 6-8 times, with very hot water, it cleaned like magic... i had to change my water after the 2nd cycle cuase of all the gunk that did come off... but i replaced it w/ fresh hot water again and ran my stuff thru and my stuff was getting clean good.one thing i like about this cleaner as compared to others out there, alconox is non-corrosive!! the generic cleaner that came w/ my sterilizer was corrosive. it was eating away a lil bit at my tattoo tips... on the metal... but alconox doesn't do that...i'm not sure if you can use it for jewelry, but if you can, buy it... it cleans very well. i use it for only my tattoo tips and grips.. gets them spotless.the tattoo supply shops sell this cleaner as well.
