I was looking for a pole for a short person since I am only 5 ft. Almost all the adjustable poles available are the telescoping kind. I don't trust them since one collapsed under a friend, and my wrists are not strong enough to tighten the sections sufficiently. This pole has 5 holes at the top of the pole and a button that pops into whichever hole gives you the correct length. Once the button is in the hole, you have to depress it to lengthen or shorten the pole. There is no twisting involved to adjust the pole. This is the only pole like this that I have found. I also like the fact that it folds, and that when it is folded is small enough to fit into a small backpack.

I'm an old guy and needed something very portable--for international travel--so bought two of these, one for me, one for my wife. We took them on a recent trip to Germany and France where we road tripped for a couple of weeks. She didn't use hers, but I used mine every time I got out of the car.Taking it out of the carrying bag, it snapped to full length and I could adjust it several inches to achieve the exact length I wanted. I've grown down to about 5' 7'' so I bought the smaller version and extended it out all the way, it worked perfectly for me. It was light, super portable and I had no difficulty getting it through government inspections going or returning.Just a note for possible buyers: you will need to store it in the carrying bag or wrap it tightly with a large rubber band, otherwise it will snap out to full length.I had no problems of any sort and found it completely reliable...and would recommend it.

Good short/adjustable hiking pole. I am a 5'2", 52 year old woman and wanted a lightweight, collapsible pole to have on hand if needed as I do mostly easy to moderate hikes. This has worked out great for me this summer, does not feel like I am lugging along a excess weight when in my pack and has been useful on several hikes this summer. Appears sturdy and folds and unfolds easilty.

Great. Stable and easy t fold

Just returned from a week's hiking in the Andes, where we did 5 hikes from 11,000' - 15,000', each progressively harder. The last hike was on slippery boulders and loose rocks in the rain. These poles held up great, and I beat the heck out of them. A few times the end section got stuck in deep mud (to be expected) and the elastic held up fine. I couldn't have done this very challenging hiking without them.

I bought it to use at the Disney/Universal parks, and it worked perfectly. It folded right up and I was able to put it in my pocketbook ( yes, it did stick out a bit at the top ) when I went on a ride, or sat down to eat. Then in an instant, it was back to full size in a second when needed. I do not like the position my hand is in with a cane. As a side note, I do not need it to help me walk, it's main use is as a back up to keep me from falling if I happen to stumble.

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my package. The walking stick popped right open when I took it out of the plastic it came in and was just as easy to fold up. It fits perfectly in the cloth draw-string bag that came with it. My hubby and I are going to China next month and this will be perfect for all the walking we will be doing. I have an issue with arthritis in my hips, greater trochanteric bursitis in my right hip, and spondylosis in my back. It will be so convenient to pack this in a backpack, etc., as it folds to 12" and it is very lightweight. It will be so convenient to to be able to open it up, especially while walking the Great Wall. I love my wooden walking stick, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to pack it. This is exactly what I needed.
