Raven Dashcam

I like Raven's support and customer service. The camera itself is amazing; you can even livestream with it. Choice of speed and time, or you can change to mpg, rpm, gas fuel left, etc. Recording quality is very good. Uses timelapses. And records realtime incidents such as harsh braking, gestures in front of camera, etc. Can automatically wifi download to smartphone. Can record your average speed, aggressive driving incidents, which can help you to accelerate and brake more slowly. I placed the mount on my dashboard and I used 3M or comparble square adhesive strips to support it. Otherwise, camera can wobble or shake when driving, which does not occur when supported. 4G LTE is recommended. Also a recent smartphone is recommended. Based on my experience.

Great when it comes to checking on your vehicle at any time inside and outside front. Lots of alerts that work well. Lacking as a dash cam because you can't make out plates numbers in the videos even when the car is standing still in front of you, at night glare is not compensated for, so if it's a hit and run you can't make out the plates, perhaps a software update will correct this.Ran great on iPhone, Android phone, and desktop. Can't delete video history on phones, so they just stay there even when remove from SD card. No charges for three or four months for LTE. Low forward profile so probably won't have to worry about getting a ticket for windshield obstruction as cam needs to sit forward in order to do hand motion activation recording, which has worked without a problem. If you really want a detailed log of your cars driving GPS is pretty good.Not all features are working yet, such as speed limit notifications. No battery drain issues so far.

first I tried all kinds of glue to mount this camera..than the poor mounting on the camera got to hot on the dashboard and crumbled apart..and now the app wouldn't download to my phone..without it the camera is worthless..this camera stopped working right at the time that the return window closed...what a coincidence ;{

Man I really wanted to love this. I was looking at buying he Owl cam and found this. It looks the best, has really cool features like the customizable screens with mpg, mph, heading, altitude, etc, but the hardware is really the big fault here. When I would drive, the unit would just fall off the mount. Ravens customer service is phenomenal and very quick to respond. After a couple pics sent to them, they deemed the mount defective and sent a prompt replacement. Then the unit itself started to make a loud “whirring” sound, which sounds like a 10 year old desktop computer fan. It was so loud, the only thing I could do was jack up the tunes or the AC to drown out the noise. The cord isn’t very long on the unit either and I had to by an extension OBDII cord on Amazon that was an additional 3 ft. One of the main reasons i purchased this was for the hotspot capabilities, but that feature isnt active yet, and no timetable was given. Sometimes, i would have problems gettingthe app to link up with the Raven Camera, but it was never a critical issue. I really wanted to love this, but it seems a bit rushed to market and not ready for prime time just yet.

UPDATE: After getting through to the help desk, we worked out the issues. Primary issue was the gesture control. The location on the dash was too close to the steering wheel so it kept thinking I was gesturing a record. They replaced the original which had a defective IR lamp for night vision interior. I rely on it now. The ability to check in or to get movement alerts at park is a good security feature - particularly when the vehicle is at an up fitter or the dealer getting maintenance. Love the way you can get a fast view of your entire trip.Original review: No owners manual. No description of the icons. I am on my second Raven and it is still now working properly. On the first one, the internal camera did not work at night. On the second one, while driving on a 190 mile drive, it kept thinking it was on a short trip and kept making chirping noises. I try calling the help desk. It is closed due to covid. I email to the help desk but it takes forever to get an answer and it is tough to talk through the problems (multiple) over email. This company sends out bad hardware, they don’t provide documentation. And their service sucks.

I’ve been using the Raven nearly every day for eight months, and love it! Being a careful driver I have not yet needed its in-built auto-recorded high resolution camera video footage, although it is reassuring knowing that in the event I should ever become involved in an accident that Raven’s videos would be very helpful.I enjoy watching Raven’s auto-created time lapse videos of many of my drives - a truly unique feature that I haven't found anywhere else.I found installing and setting up the Raven to be a piece of cake, and am delighted with the level of support that I have received with my occasional questions and requests of Raven’s support team always being responded to fully and completely.Traveling on periodic weekend get aways, where my car is necessarily parked in unfamiliar public parking areas, I found Raven’s easy ability to check the real-time view of my car’s exterior and interior highly comforting.I've also found helpful Raven App’s built-in navigational tool. This automatically provides upcoming turn instructions on one of Raven's two driver-facing screens. Through furnishing timely navigational instructions this makes me a safer driver by avoiding the temptation to periodically take my eyes off the road to look at my smart phone.Finally, when I occasionally loan my car I appreciate Raven’s ability to keep an eye on my car’s location and via alerting to my smart phone and through the look-in feature to be confident that it is being driven in a safe manner.Bottom line, I’m delighted with my Raven purchase, and have no regrets.
