Flap Hat (03)-Khaki W15S46D

Does the job, protects my neck and head from the sun but you can't hear as well since it does cover your ears. This made it harder to have conversations while walking but sun protection was my main goal getting this hat.

The thing came in mail promptly. Washed it twice, no problem. Comes outta washing machine like nothing's been done. Fit my head well and keep my neck from sunburn. I like the tan color that I got, this hat also does not interfere with my eyeglasses, they stay out of each other's ways very well. And this hat was one of the cheapest of these kind I could find. Solid 5 star.

Short Review as of July 21st, 2020 (initial impressions). Initial impressions of this item are that this is a pretty nice cap. Fabric thickness has exceeded my expectations. I have received much cheaper made products before and this doesn't seem like one of them. I will update my review if things change with this item (any unforeseen hidden corner cutting in its production). The elastic adjustable strap in the back is of somewhat inferior quality from some caps I have. This can become a bigger issue in the future during use - so I have deducted 1 star for it. However, it is certainly too early to judge if it will fail or not until I have put it to proper use. Until then, fabric density, stiffness, grommets, sewing etc. look to be pretty solid. It is sized so fits a bit roomier (remember you can fold the fabric hanging off the cap into the cap itself, so there is some "allowance" for that). The adjustment elastic is a nice touch to ensure a more customized and comfortable fit - but, as stated above, it does seem a bit inferior. For a ten dollar cap, this is a pretty solid buy. Keep in mind: These caps do feel a little different from normal caps without the tails, so wearing them can take a tiny bit of getting used to - also, the roomier fit is actually quite favorable in hot conditions and having that little bit of extra "breathing space" around your noggin helps with the cool down process some (just like the chef hats). In heavy sun, a bit of a looser fit is sometimes preferred. In windy/rainy conditions, tightening up that elastic should help with keeping the hat on your head. Also: There was a review here written sometime in 2014 which was stating that these caps were sized too small. I didn't have that problem (I wear approximately 7 1/2 inch sized hats). I believe the company may have fixed that issue. I would not hesitate purchasing from this listing again if my adjustment elastic holds up. I hope this helps! This hat provides great neck protection from the Sun and fits well for people with medium to large hat sizes. The flap folds up into the hat in a way that makes it invisible, and the design is quite comfortable. Seems to be well make but have only been wearing it on the tractor for about 30 days. looking forward to trying it out on the boat while fishing.

I do a lot of gardening. In my sixties, so I worry about my skin. It took just one sunburn to do a google search for "French Foreign Legion hat", and I got this. Works great, not too expensive. No more sunburns and a little less of all that sunscreen that I don't like.

I bought some of these previously for my kids. They were a bit big but the adjustable string allowed me to tighten it up just fine. On the one I just bought the string only goes about 2 inches on either side of the hat. So if you tighten it, instead of snugging up along the whole hat, it creates an awkward bit that pokes out in the back. Otherwise the quality seems good and the fabric is nice.

I bought this hat for kayaking. It fits and looks much like a baseball cap but the panels forming the crown are not triangular. My own hat size is 7-1/4 and I have short hair. This hat fit well with a bit of room to spare. I believe it would also fit a person with a 7-1/2 hat size. There is an adjustor (in the back, outside). This is a small elastic cord running around the crown and operated by a locking slide The curtain or flap around its rear covers the ears and neck well and falls below the shoulders. It does not interfere with peripheral vision and the flap does not drag or pull at the hat when you turn your head and can be tucked up into the crown. All is made of very durable fabric with 4 screened vents along the sides. The bill is 7" wide at its widest part and reaches 3" from forehead to bill tip. Overall, the construction is very well executed. Seems are taped and double stitched, the flap is hemmed. It sits firmly enough that it think it would be unlikely to blow off during a wind. Apart from protecting your neck and ears from sun exposure, it seems to me that the flap would also protect from flies, tics and mosquitoes even though that is not its main purpose. My recommendation is this is the perfect hat for boating, camping, hiking, gardening and other outdoor activities.

Got this to keep the sun off my neck for an 8 day canoe trip. Wound up needing it more to keep the rain out of my eyes until the final day. That's when the 30mph wind pushed the storm clouds away. Hat stayed on in spite of the wind. It did a great job keeping the back of my neck from getting sunburned too. The flap is plenty long for that. The hat did fit a little big - the band sat on my ears because the flap wouldn't let it fit behind my ears. Not a problem. The adjustible strap allows you to tighten to your comfort.

Great hat for fishing and outdoor use. The flaps work perfectly in keeping the sun from burning your neck. Only issue is when it is windy, the neck guard flaps a little but really enough to affect its purpose. Nice khaki color and the adjustable cord in back will make sure the hat is a snug fit.

This is a fantastic, lightweight hat, the long flap completely shields the back of his neck and his ears so no more nasty sunburn! The toggle at the back adjusts so it fits perfectly. Because it is so small and lightweight it is easy to pack - stuff it, fold it or crush it, and it still comes out looking brand new every time. We are very pleased with this purchase.

Flap hat, to release your inner Lawrence of Arabia. With flaps. I used to wear mine around the streets of Halifax, and people loved it. At least I think those were stares of admiration I was getting. Great hat, great flaps.

The Flap hat is perfect for my husband because he plays pickle ball almost every day and needs to keep the sun off the side of his face. He can still see but the ears and the side of the face is protected so that he doesn't have to wear sun screen lotion; to which he is sensitive.
