worth it, and reliable
took a bit of adjusting the tension and angle on the hose to keep it from leaking but got it. this sprinkler works very well for keeping the cats away from my front door, I especially appreciate the dial that allows me to program it for day, night or always, as I’m never going to remember to shut the water off during the day to avoid sprayer the mower guy and delivery people. other sprinklers don’t offer that feature and is why I’m buying another one, as the cats have moved to spraying the furniture on my deck, despite it being a few dollars more than others, its worth it. Just remember to purchase batteries, they aren’t included.

Works very well
I put this together (frankly, it’s in a lot of pieces and requires more assembly than it should) and I used silicone faucet cartridge assembly type grease on all the seals and assembly points. It has not leaked a drop. The plastics are not great quality, so do yourself a favor and use the silicone grease, any hardware store has it.It is very sensitive, and has a wide arc/range- you don’t have to be anywhere near the front to trigger it. I think it’s 80 degrees or so. When it fires, it will splatter you even if you are behind it. Because it apparently needs to sense both heat and movement, such as with a moving critter, it does not fire with waving branches on a breezy day, and that’s very good- my yard is full of things that move in the wind. The intact Tom cat who has drenched my pool screens with foul-smelling pee nightly for months (as well as screaming and howling at 3am routinely right outside my bedroom window) got a face full of water and hit my wooden fence scrambling to escape with enough force that it sounded like an adult person climbing over. He made one more attempt the next night with similar results. I left it up a week and now set it only periodically just in case. The cat has not been back, nor am I hearing the howling in nearby yards, so I assume he was sufficiently impressed to choose new territory.Make sure your hose is durable - cracking the tap just a little does NOT limit pressure, only flow. If your house has high pressure such as mine (pool pressure) buy a reducer. A burst hose at 1am that you don’t find for 8 hours will lose a lot of water. Having the tap on less than full will reduce what you lose if it bursts, but again, simple physics dictate that it won’t reduce the pressure and make a burst hose less likely. Make sure the tap is on enough that you get a good strong and long firing- you want distance since the sensor will pick up the critter quite a ways from the unit. A good soaking is most likely to help the critter find another yard to prowl, rather than water that doesn’t reach them at all and just makes a lot of noise. If you are looking for an intact male cat to ruin your screen enclosure and wake you at 3am, I no longer have one to loan you.

Battery powered, but works great!
Wish it was solar powered!I got this about 3 ish weeks ago and it has been working great. I have a small yard, but many neighbor cats like to use it as a bathroom. We also get deer and rabbits and occasional dog...so feces and yard and plant damage. I haven't had poop or comped plants since I set it up. It even senses birds. And the range of distance it senses a person is several yards. I am happy with it and it does what I wanted it to do! The only problem is that it is battery operated. I guess i thought it was solar powered when i got it. I didn't look closely. But i am still keeping it. The batteries have been lasting well so far but batteries is my only problem. I do want another one to face the other direction in my yard. I hope it works as well as the one I have now. Please make a solar powered version!

This Product Does Not Work Against Rabbits
After exploring and attempting other unsuccessful stratagems, I purchased this device with the sole intent of it deterring and repelling rabbits from dining on my lawn. Thus, my one star review is predicated, in the main, on the Garden Enforcer failing to perform this task. In my view, there are several factors with this unit that appear to lend to its ineffectiveness against rabbits:1. The motion activated sensor is not attuned/designed to recognize the smallness nor quickness of rabbits. It appears to be effective against humans, dogs and (presumably) deer, but, unfortunately, not rabbits. Various sensor adjustments, equipment locations, configurations and placements were to no avail.2. The tripod configuration of the unit itself appears to be a hindrance to rabbit deterrence. The unit cannot be lowered enough via the tripod adjustment mechanism for the motion sensors to detect rabbits even though the sensor itself, to a degree, can be adjusted vertically.3. The Garden Enforcer's hose connection has an inherent design flaw. The hose connection descends vertically from the center of the unit to a terminus that is equidistant from the three legs of the tripod and that is only marginally situated above the base of the tripod at its most retracted setting. Attaching a hose to the connection effectively renders the lowest tripod setting to be ineffective as it does not account for the hose itself, i.e., the hose, when connected, is actually below the lowest tripod setting making the hose the fulcrum rather than the tripod. A better design would be to have the hose connection nearer to the top of the tripod so that the unit itself could be fully lowered so that the sensor could be more effective against smaller animals such as rabbits.4. The unit has four operating modes: Off, Day, Night and Always. Since rabbits are primarily dawn and dusk diners, none of these settings ideally serves the purpose of deterring rabbits. As a result, I was compelled to set the unit on the Always setting. Until we adapted to its presence, during the day, the Always setting gave me and my dog a reminder of its existence! A far better solution would be to integrate a digital timer with this device so that on/off settings can be truly programmable, making the Garden Enforcer a more flexible tool. Orbit, itself, makes these very timers. I have one that works quite well.Aside from its inability to deter rabbits (and I suspect animals of similar size such as cats), the Garden Enforcer appears to be well constructed. The tripods are of metal construction and the plastic components appear to be durable. The sprinkler mechanism also works fine and can be adjusted for distance, radius and duration. The instructions were clear and It was easy to set up.A note about Orbit's customer service. Seeking advice on rabbit deterrence, I talked to two separate customer service representatives on separate days. Neither of the reps appeared to be at all knowledgeable about or familiar with the Garden Enforcer. In fact, one sent me a pdf of user instructions for the wrong product. Finally, in frustration, I was able to speak with a supervisor who was more familiar with the product, secured some technical input while I was put on hold and provided me with some suggestions to improve the unit's effectiveness against rabbits. Alas. all to no avail. So, if it's rabbits you seek to repel, this is not the product for it. For humans, dogs and, I suspect, deer, it will likely be more effective.
