fantastic, subscription-free tool for parents to record or streaming their games
I recently purchased the XbotGo Chameleon AI Auto Sports Action Camera (LIME Green) to record my son’s soccer games and a few basketball practices, and I’ve been testing it over the past couple of weeks.Setup was quick and user-friendly. The compact camera (about 7” x 3” x 2”, weighing just over a pound) came with a Bluetooth remote, USB-C charging cable, and a 1/4-inch screw mount for tripods. I paired it with my iPhone 13 (iOS 16) via the XbotGo app, which I downloaded and set up in under 5 minutes using Bluetooth—no Wi-Fi required. I mounted it on a 10-foot tripod (not included, but I used a standard one) at the edge of the soccer field, and the clamp securely held my phone without any risk of slipping. The app’s interface was intuitive, letting me select “soccer mode” and adjust settings like zoom or tracking sensitivity with a few taps. The 7500mAh battery lasted through two 90-minute soccer games without needing a recharge, aligning with the claimed 8-hour battery life.Performance impressed me for team sports. The xbotVision 2.0 AI tracked the ball and players across the field with about 90% accuracy, keeping the action in the 120° ultra-wide-angle lens’s frame even during fast breaks. The 4K 60FPS video was crisp, capturing details like jersey numbers clearly, though I noticed slight lag in tracking when players crowded near the camera or during sudden direction changes, requiring a quick reset via the remote. Live streaming to YouTube was seamless—I shared a game with family in real-time, and they praised the smooth, blur-free footage, enhanced by the 3-axis stabilization. Live broadcasts with scoreboard!
The media could not be loaded. Being an electronics enthusiast, I've come across phone gimbals and camera gimbals, but what I haven't come across is something like the XbotGo tracking camera gimbal. While DJI Osmo and other vlogging cameras with built in gimbals and object tracking are great for being your own cameraman, they are weak when it comes to recording and live streaming sports events. Before coming across this product, I watched a live stream of a basketball game streamed by my son's middle school done by another parent. It had a scorboard overlay and great quality. I always wondered how that was done. It was when I came across the XbotGo that it clicked for me. The parent must have used a similar device to this product. The XBotGo hardware is simple in concept. It has pan and tilt capabilities and a bluetooth remote for controlling the gimbal operation as well as starting and stopping the video. It has a camera built in that is used only for optical tracking. This condensed set of hardware makes the XbotGo more versatile as it leaves the camera and wireless hardware up to the phone that you provide. The streaming video quality is up to the phone that you provide. This is where the software comes in.The software is an all-important part of this system. It is used to connect to the Chameleon via bluetooth and provides the functionality that sets it apart from a standard phone gimbal. Upon starting the app, you choose the sport that you will be recording. This allows the Chameleon to customize its motion tracking to the sport. If you think about it, in Basketball or Soccer, the camera should be following the ball, not a specific person. This is the key feature that sets this product apart from standard gimbals. To really make the live stream work, you need to log in with an XBotGo account. From there, you will have the ability to live stream to Youtube or Facebook. To create a scoreboard overlay, you will need another phone. This phone will be the remote monitor for the Chameleon and you can customize the feed with a scoreboard.Even better is the ability for Chameleon to work with OBS. From a laptop, OBS can connect to a URL given by the product once you have the camera started. OBS treats this as a live source and you're then able to create even more overlays and stream to other social media platforms not covered by the XBotGo's app.Overall, this is a well thought out system that is just impressive with the results that you can get. Very cool.

Great for sports and even other events!
This has become such a fun toy AND tool for covering events! A friend wanted me to help her cover her daugher's basketball game and I had seen these before. The problem was justifying the cost - which ended up making this a fun tool we now use at work!Setup was easy and it does track sporting events quite well! We did find that running it with a dedicated iPhone and using another one as a remote was the best way to change views on the fly AND live stream the event. It attaches to any standard tripod and we did find it tends to work best higher up as possible. The video looks awesome on it, and it's conveniently stored on your phone - so if you're backing up to iCloud or something, the video is already there and ready to work with.

Not ready for prime. Usability failed big time.
I intended to use this mainly to film myself. I first tried the ‘follow me’ feature. The big issue was that the app needed to ‘lock’ yourself by touching your frame on the app screen so tracking will work. But how could I possibly do that by myself? One, I needed to be at a distance from my phone, and second the screen of my phone needed to be facing at the opposite direction, so I couldn’t see what’s on the screen. My gosh, it’s supposed to be AI, as I was the only person in front of the tracer, it should have detected me without the need for such setup. There are cheap trackers that automatically do that. Then when I finally made it to follow me, it did work for a few seconds, then for some reason, the tracker angled upward, completely removing the focus on me.Also, for the price I would expect a better user manual. I needed a magnifying glass in order to read it. Even the video instruction was very amateurish, using AI narrator that did not pause on periods. Lol.I decided to not test it on team games. I reasoned if a simple ‘follow me’ did not work, what more of the complex team games.I decided to return this for refund. FYI it’ll take 30 days after they get the product before issuing me a refund. So think twice before buying.
