high-performance and great Timekettle support
The product is very high-performance and works great for its intended purpose. I had a question after almost a year of use, and when I contacted Timekettle support, their response was excellent. They handled my inquiry quickly and professionally, which exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend both the product and the customer service!

Great Concept... But doesn't work (Chinese to English, Business Use)
Let me start by saying that I REALLY hoped that this would work… but unfortunately, it didn’t. Note: I paid full price for this device. This review is not sponsored in any way. Use case: Chinese to English, Business Setting (Your experience MAY be different in a different setting and a different language) First, let me mention the positives: 1. It’s a great concept. 2. The packaging is nice 3. The hard shell case protects the headsets and charges them 4. The headset battery lasts a long time 5. The headset is comfortable and can be worn for a long time 6. Phone app keeps a log of the translation, which can be useful to go back and review. 7. Languages can be downloaded and used offline (no internet connection required) [this is a paid feature though] 8. Seemed to work OK for one-on-one conversation where both people wore the headset* Now the negatives: 1. Translation quality was TERRIBLE (Chinese to English) 2. My iPhone had to be on in order to get it to work… and it was a battery hog on the iPhone (25-30% of iPhone battery consumed per hour) 3. Offline translation seems to work as the Timekettle app only used 5.79 MB of data while I was in China. 4. Very expensive for something that doesn’t work. 5. You can tap the headset to switch modes; however, there is no audio prompt to tell if you’re in ‘speaking’ or ‘listening’ mode – so you have to have your phone open to know for sure. 6. Does not do well with multiple speakers – even if only one is speaking at a time. ------------------------Detailed Review: ---------------------------------------- Since not all reviewers of this product have specified the language(s) they tried, let me begin by clarifying that I used the headsets during a week long BUSINESS trip to CHINA in November 2024. My review is based on this use case. If you are looking to use the headset in a different way (e.g. personal or tourist) or a different language (e.g. not Chinese-English), your results MAY be different. I travel to China for business several times per year and really hoped that this would work as I do not speak Chinese and I’m reliant on a translator (and I feel that I only get a summary of the translation vs. a word-for-word translation). While on this 1.5 week trip, I used the headset in multiple different scenarios – and I’ll detail them all below for you. I did use my one free credit to download the Chinese-English dictionary and used the app/device in offline mode during the trip. (additional languages can be downloaded and used offline for a reasonable additional fee). Product arrived quickly and nicely packaged. It includes a short USB-A to USB-C charging cable (but no transformer – which is OK). The included hard-sided case acts as a nice protector for the headsets although it is fairly bulky and is probably too large to fit in most pockets (except maybe larger cargo pockets on shorts/pants). The battery on the headset seems to last a long time – which is perfect for almost all use cases. USE CASE 1: Board room. Listening in on typically 2 speakers. – For this first use case, I was in a board room with 8 other people. The two people that were speaking the most were located next to me and across the table from me (approx. 2 meters or 6 feet away). The room was a bit echoey. During this meeting, I wore one headset and had the phone on the table in front of me (the other headset was in the case). The meeting started with my customer giving a PowerPoint overview of their company followed by some conversation between my colleague (next to me) and the company’s manager (across the table). MOST spoken language was not picked up. Based on the PowerPoint content and our business, I would have to say that the little bit that was translated was mostly not correct. Some examples of what came through on the translation are: -silence- “But what we want is. The next step, I think I am.” -silence- “We only have 3 basketball. Hmm beg is more expensive than gold.” -silence- “Magazines usually do not look for him” [for the record, NONE of this is even a little bit relatable to my business]. Overall, I would have to guess that translation accuracy was well under 5%. I was left wondering if the echo in the room negatively affected the translation quality. Rating: NOT RELIABLE / NOT USEFUL. USE CASE 1B: During this same meeting, I took the second headset out of the case and set it to Chinese and my headset to English. I placed it on the table in the direction of the people that were speaking most hoping that it would pick up some of their words and improve the translation; however, this did not work. There was no improvement. USE CASE 2: Same company as #1, but during factory tour. – for this use case, I wore one headset and the other was in the case. We then walked around the factory for about an hour for the tour. During this time, the translation quality was slightly better – but only when I was holding my phone in front of me and the tour guide was nearby and speaking in my general direction and when he spoke slowly with lots of pauses… which was not often. Rating: NOT RELIABLE / NOT USEFUL. USE CASE 3: Different company, small tea table with 5 people. 3 people did most of the talking, the person to my immediate left and immediate right and the customer across the table (approx. 1.8m or 5 feet away). I wore one headset, the second headset remained in the case and MOST spoken language was not picked up. This smaller setting with less echo was slightly better than the Board room described above; however, I would still estimate that maybe only 10% of the spoken words were translated. At one point, the device was silent for a while then translated: “We’re a gas station. Reporting the right to life.”, then it was silent again. Rating: NOT RELIABLE / NOT USEFUL. USE CASE 4: In a car. One-on-one conversation. I wore one earbud (set to English) and my driver wore the other (set to Chinese). My driver speaks fluent English, but I wanted to try the headsets to see how they worked when using 2 of them. Since we were the only two in the car, it was a fairly quiet environment and the headset did much better picking up the speakers and translating. There was a delay in the translation, which made it awkward as we would have to pause and wait to continue talking. According to my driver, the translation was fairly accurate from English to Chinese, but less accurate from Chinese to English. After using it for awhile, we did figure out that the device works MUCH better when translating short sentences… we changed our conversation style to saying a short sentence, waiting for the translation then speaking the next sentence… which is not really how conversations work. Rating: SEMI-RELIABLE / SEMI-USEFUL. USE CASE 5A: Trade show. I wore one headset and the second headset remained in the case. I walked around the trade show and talked to several vendors. The trade show was very noisy. When I asked very simple questions and the vendor responded with a simple answer, the headset did an OK job of translating (sometimes). It seemed to work better when I stood (uncomfortably) close to the vendor or held my phone near their face. Unfortunately, it didn’t always work. Using an ‘old fashioned’ translation app (e.g. Bing Translation) worked much better and more reliably. Interestingly, as I was walking around, the headset picked up parts of conversations and I randomly heard sentence fragments translated in my ear. Rating: NOT TOTALLY RELIABLE / SEMI USEFUL. USE CASE 5B: Trade show. Very noisy. During the trade show, I had one sit-down meeting with a vendor. At a small table, four people sat down with me and another person doing most of the talking to each other. The manager that I spoke with would sometimes confer with his team and then respond back to me with an answer. Even though we were sitting next to each other (approx. 3 feet / 1 meter) and the phone was resting on the table, the headset did not pick up enough of the conversation to be useful. I tried to listen in on the vendors team conversation, but almost none of it was picked up. Rating: NOT RELIABLE / NOT USEFUL. USE CASE 5C: Trade show. Very noisy. After the larger group meeting, I stayed at the table and had a one-on-one conversation with the customer service manager. She speaks some English. I gave her the second headset and we tried using it in conversation mode. The results were fairly similar to what I experienced during the car ride; however, I felt like she had to speak louder than she normally does and more of the conversation was missed – probably due to the much louder environment. It also seemed like the translation quality was much lower than during the car ride. Rating: NOT TOTALLY RELIABLE / SEMI USEFUL. -------------------- Maybe Chinese is difficult for machine translation. Maybe other languages work better. (The W4 does get better reviews from many other customers... so maybe it works better in other scenarios) Final verdict: RETURN FOR CREDIT since the product did not work reliably.

Great Potential
Of all the language earbuds, I've researched, this one seems to be the best... does that mean that it's worth the 400 plus dollar price... not really, but if you want the best, this is currently what is best on the market: Headphone quality: The metal feels really nice, the two colors, make it easy to determine, which is for the right ear and which is for the left. Sound quality... not great, not bad, just mediocre. For comparison, my over the year Tozo headphones (about 30-50 dollars) have so much more clarity. Time wise, these only last about 6 hours, which is a lot less than other earbuds that I've tried out. Language quality. I am impressed at the translations; everything seems pretty accurate so far. My huge concern is the "Listen and Play" feature; which allows the software to use your phone's microphone to translate speakers around the table. Phone microphone's don't pick up distance... so this is an oversight in my opinion. I ended up guying a cheap 30 dollar free standing microphone (ZealSound) and the software was then able to pick up sound so much better. The speaker to speaker feature works pretty well, you just have to tell the other person that they need to put the earpiece on and hope they don't steal it. App: A bit confusing, the Amazon page states you can download two offline languages, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. The Amazon page also says, several languages are already included, for offline. I'm sure I'll figure this out, but so far... frustrating. Customer service: I wrote to customer service and they got back to me in two days, I was impressed, they answered my questions well. I think in a few years, this company will grow the app and the product, right now though, they still have some growing to do.

Not ideal
Translations slow and accuracy just ok. Item returned. At this price expected more. Customer service unable to solve issues.

Woooow. Dye-no-mite
My wife is in Venezuela and we normally communicate via text translation. I was doing research on different translation earbuds and these looked to be the highest quality and accuracy available on the market today. So I pulled the trigger on these expensive puppies... I've only been testing them for the past 24hrs, but I can say I'm very impressed with the results! Without the TimeKettle App, the earbuds recognize my voice better than the other ones I have. With the app, it seems you gain super powers to understand other languages... My wife and I have been able to talk back and forth sending audio messages and we have been loving it! Ease of use is very good, setup was fast, design is nice. Translation quality for our usage has been nearly perfect! ***There are things the users need to do to assist the product to perform the best. Play with mic positions and loudness you speak. Speak on the slower side if you want higher accuracy, however normal speech patterns, and children's speech patterns are recognized pretty accurately. The value for the money is there. Yes it's expensive, but you're paying for the technology they've created. If you're on a budget, I would maybe try other options first and see if they work for your needs, but otherwise just stop pinching pennies and get the top of the line product on the market right now.

When it works its good but there's way too many problems UPDATE
My wife and I use these daily to talk to each other. My wife speaks spanish I speak english we are hardcore users using these daily that last few few weeks since we both don't speak the same languages . We have used a bunch of devices from this company. First the biggest issue is with one to one, I have notices is the headsets will drop , you then have to close the app and re open it next some times reconnecting them doesn't work as well. It seems to be more of an issue with the right side then the left at times too. Also in loud places they DO NOT seem to work at all. Translation is good SOMETIMES then other times I find myself getting upset with the device because it just refuses to get my words correctly. The entire AI seems to be more of a gimmick there's nothing really special about these. The open translation works pretty well but one to one is just not great WHEN it does work it works good but its too big of a hassle. I think there's a timing out issue also. When no speech is going into the device it's almost like it times out which causes the freezing For the price of these I would expect way more however if theses where around $150 to $20 I would keep them but with the problems they are not worth the cost of admission. I will be returning these before the return window closes I might give the next ones a try hopefully they will improve because I think there's some promising potential with the direction they are heading towards . I will work on a detail video for Youtube so users can see the problems. I do like how there's no censorship , but we find ourselves using the t1 mini more than these because it's more reliable it's cheaper the only negative is there's no privacy with the t1 mini that's $150 for the price of this new device $300 + that's totally unacceptable to have a cheaper device function better and more accurate . I don't think an update will fix these issues it's more of a hardware issue with noise cancellation and connectivity UPDATE : As of 1/17/25 They no longer work. Won't charge won't turn on. Used less then 30 days and the product already broke

Works well
I had seen a few reviews on youtube and decided to pick one of these up. Tried it a few times on a trial basis and it works well with converting foreign youtube videos into my language and I've tried it a couple times with one of my Spanish speaking employees. Little delay after the foreign language is spoke, but works well. My employee was so shocked that he bought one for himself so that is non-english speaking wife could navigate around town a little more easier. I would recommend this product to anyone.

I can't recommend these for use as translators
My wife is Ecuadorian and we are still in the process of getting her visa to come over. And she understands basic English and I do not know much Spanish. How about these to try to bridge the gap for our communication together and I have to say that it has been a very disappointing experience. The earbuds work good to listen to music and podcasts but we have found using these to pick up our voices and then translate just don't work and are extremely frustrating. I think the main problem is the microphones does not pick up the voices correctly or it's the system is not processing what it's hearing. There is a wavelength showing that it's hearing the voices coming through the earbuds but then nothing is ever put onto the screens. So even though it's hearing what you say it's not bringing it up in the native language nevertheless able to translate. Sometimes it will just pull up a portion of the sentence you said and translate that and then send it to the other person which the other person gives you a funny look before he even said something that doesn't make any sense at all or it's even come across as I was saying something rude because the full context of the sentence wasn't provided. That's the one on one. When we're closer together in the bed or something they don't work at all because it seems like both mics are trying to pick up and neither one know which way to go from English to Spanish or Spanish to English. Secondly I tried using it speaking of my life over WhatsApp and it was terrible. Now using it on the Wi-Fi is the only way that it kind of works out. But if you attempt to use it over a cellular service or to use the offline version it will not Translate and it leaves you extremely frustrated. I thought it might be that my wife's Wi-Fi was not strong enough but I hooked up a Wi-Fi security camera and it operates just fine. So the signal strength and the speed test that I did show that shouldn't be an issue. My opinion is that there is a long ways to go with this app to work properly and You're such and go whether or not they will pick up your voice or whether it cuts in and out while picking up your voice and deletes random words in between therefore leaving the sentence the other person hears as a garbled mess. For the cost I'd say play with the cheaper models first and see if these ever move up to a quality standards that makes them worth the cost this company's asking for them. Also this is my second set because the first ones after speaking to customer service they had told me there might be an upgrade or something needed so I just returned those and bought a second set and there is not any Improvement if anything these are worse than the first set
