DEWALT DCF886B 20V XR Lithium Ion Brushless 1/4-Inch Impact Driver, Battery sold separately

i have never used one of these, let alone owned one. I have always used my drill to drive screws relying on the chuck to not over tighten them or twist the heads off. The big plus of this driver is that it is WAY lighter than my drill, so my arms do not fatigue as quickly...this is particularly great when hanging dry wall or driving screws above your head. Lots of power and the light feature is much more useful than I had expected. The pulsing action is also very effective in actually driving screws into tough materials like oak.Downside is that it is easy to twist heads off screws of less than a 1/4 shank if you are not paying close attention...at least I have done several times already. I wish it did have some sort of slipping chuck feature like the drills to have a more reduce torque setting. That would make this a perfect tool.

These brushless motor products from dewalt are relatively new to the market. Our dewalt tool rep has pushed these on us pretty hard commenting about how much more durable they are. We purchased one and so far it has worked out very well. My carpentry and concrete crew can tear up anything not made of solid steel and this impact gun is still in the tool box and functioning properly. We also purchased a brushless 4" angle grinder that has performed very well.

If you think this product will replace your regular driver or hammer drill, think again. When it comes to driving regular drywall screws, the variable-speed trigger (with no speed zones) is irritating and for some reason, the screw spins for awhile before it grabs. I think it might have to do with the slight wobble (real or perceived) of the impact driver I received or the nature of impact driver. Also, you need special drill bits with a hex shank if you want to use drill bits, but I suspect with the design of the impact driver, this would be problematic as well. What this impact driver is designed to do is drive lag bolts, deck screws, remove rusty bolts, and torque bolts; basically any task that requires a lot of low-end torque. For those uses, it excels (compared to a regular driver). It's absolutely amazing how smoothly it can drive a three-inch lag bolt into a ceiling joist without pre-drilling a hole or bogging down...my 20v Dewalt hammer drill even bogs down without pre-drilling. As such, it is more of a niche tool that performs within the niche extremely well!

I love this impact driver. I bought it from a seller without the original packaging, but it was cheaper than I could find anywhere else and it was 100% new. I already had two batteries that could fit it so I didn't need more batteries or a charger or a bag. All of which would have increased the price. The value was excellent and the tool is amazing. I feel like I rarely need to charge the battery though I use it all the time. I had no idea how much better this impact driver is than trying to use a regular drill for the same work. There doesn't seem to be much this light yet powerful tool can't do. It also arrived sooner than I anticipated with the free regular shipping.

What can I say about this lovely tool... It's light, compact, and has gobs of power to drive in even the most stubborn screw into hardwood. I waited years to get one of these, and am kicking myself for struggling so long and stripping out the heads of #2 phillips screws SO many times! The 3x LED lights at the front of the tool illuminate the bit and work area at the slightest bit of trigger pull, which is a huge plus when working in dim areas. I highly recommend this tool to anyone looking for a great addition to their cordless too set. I find myself using this all the time over my cordless drill now. Get yourself a good set of driver bits and go get some projects knocked out!

My dad always said there is a right tool for every job. The Dewalt DCF886B 20V XR so far is the best tool and the right tool for jobs that require compactness, power, dependability. One of my two engineer grandsons introduced me to this tool. One of his men demonstrated it for me. I bought it. Even as a new as it is, I've already profited by it--and even chose to give another new one as a gift to a worker far more talented than I am. His reply as an experienced tool-man was that the tool is superb. I'm sure there are other brands and tools that will get your job done, but this one comes recommended from family/friends much more experienced than I am. If you need one, I'd buy it if I were you and could.

Love the freedom the cordless design provides as well as the power. The only downside is that all the parts for this drill are sold separately. I wasn't aware that I needed to purchase drill bits and any other attachments I might need.
