Q: Should this work on a 1/2 inch copper pipe?

Thats what it is designed for... 1/2 inch copper pipe. Dont overtighten, make sure you have found the correct position of the leak (the rubber must cover it) and that your copper is not so thin it needs replacement. As an alternative, shut off your water, cut out a portion of the bad pipe, maybe 12 -16 inches, push on a sharkbite fitting on each of the good ends of the copper pipe and put a piece of 1/2 inch pex between the 2 sharkbite fittings. Basically, you will bridge the bad copper with a piece of inexpensive pex. My experience has found (but not always,) when you have one pinhole leak in your copper, its not uncommon to have copper that is beyond its lifespan. FYI, if you go the Sharkbite route, the side the pex is connected to requires the plastic insert. On the copper side, you can use the insert or discard it.

Q: The picture and the descriptipon do not match. Picture shows an S-shaped shower arm. Can you confirm picture is accurate?

The picture is not accurate. What you will receive is a pipe repair clamp. I wanted the s-shaped shower arm so I returned my order.
