Rubbish and Recycling (See Inside): 1 : Alex Frith, Peter Allen: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Big hit with 4 year old and adults alike! - Bought as a 4th birthday present and was a great success. Lots of flaps, pictures of machines and super educational! Explains what happens to rubbish, from household waste to airplanes. Works on lots of age levels, the adults definitely learned a lot too. I liked that it provided a link between what we do as individuals and the world around us, not just the environment but also all the jobs and processes that happen as a result of us recycling a yogurt pot. It will last a good few years as it is a nice sturdy book which remains engaging after multiple readings. We have a few 'see inside' books and I would say this one which is suitable for younger readers (age 3 up perhaps). Also a good one for those with a love of machines. Goes into lots of detail, how the various materials are sorted and recycled, landfills, water: sewers, purification, compost, rubbish collection and so on. Recommended! Review: Hours of fun, stimulates curiosity. Lovely quality. - I bought this book for my two sons, aged 3 and 5. We've had hours of fun explorting the book together and learning about rubbish and recycling. The quality of the book is excellent with strong cardboard making it possibly to open and close the flaps without any visable wear and tear, even with extenisve use. The information is well described for young children, but is not oversimplified so encourages learning. My youngest son enjoys sitting on his own 'reading' the book as the pictures themselves communicate much information on their own.

Brilliant book for kids on rubbish, recycling and beyond
What a really well written book. Lots of lift flaps giving facts and information about recycling, but also really clear and simply put. I work in environment sector and took this into work to show people what a great way to tell kids about the subject in a fun and informative way. I used to get Usborne books as a kid, and still remember some of the facts I learned from them, but this is way better and more user friendly for the current generation of info hungry children. Brilliant.

Very informative and entertaining
My 4 year old loves this book ( along with other books in this series ). This book has a lot of information , it is perhaps too much for a 4 year old but as I am reading it to him I keep it simple and shorter. It starts at how rubbish is generated and takes you through the journey of waste collection and recycling. There is so much to talk about and to look at, this book will be a favourite for a long time.

Interesting for all ages
I borrowed this for the local library for my nearly 4 year-old son, as he has always loved watching the dustbin men and enjoys visits to the dump! We knew after the first read that it would have to be a 'keeper' - the facts and figures are so interesting, the flaps are sturdy and relevant, and I have learned a lot! The detail in the illustration is amazing, he always finds something new, and tells me stories about how different bits of rubbish get recycled. We will be reading this one for years.

I gave this book to my four year old grandson for his birthday. It was an immediate hit. First of all, he was enthralled with the British words sprinkled throughout the book, and especially the word "rubbish". The illustrations don't miss a step about where the rubbish goes and what happens next. There are plenty of flaps to see inside the machines, etc. This book inspired a family visit to the local recycling plant for a tour. You will not be disappointed with this wonderful book.

I got this book when my child was 7 and now at age 9 still continues to be one of the favorite books. Lots of information about creation, transmission of energy, its sources, the pollution caused, etc. Good book for 7 year old and above, useful for general knowledge and school projects too!

We ordered a few of the "See inside" books and they are always a hit with the kids. This one deals with Rubbish and what happens with it when you throw it out. There is lots of information about everything to do with Rubbish and Recycling. The middle section has a big fold out all about a sorting plant. Each page has flaps for even more information Price at amazon was the cheapest I could find, and the books arrived within a couple of days.
