Amazon Basics Smart Motion Sensor Dimmer Switch, 3-Way, Works with Alexa Only, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, No Hub Required, White

I have a small hallway to my main floor half bathroom, everyone thinks that light needs to be on even though others are already on. And then they don’t ever shut it off. Now that we have this light, it kicks on as soon as there is movement, and shuts off after a certain amount of time. You do have to go into the Alexa app, and set up a routine for this feature, it doesn’t just happen on its own after installation, but I’m pretty familiar with the app, so setting that up was a breeze.

Terrible product. The programming does not work as advertised. The motion detector will not respond to movement for a set time. It works in toggle on/off mode with movement (which means the light keeps turning in and off if you are in range of it) but does not work in the "on" only mode, so obviously it does not work in the "off" after a period of minutes. I thought I might have programmed it wrong so I called for support, Amazon Basics does not have tech support. 😵‍💫. I exchanged it for another one, still no luck getting it to do what it's supposed to do. Super annoying.

I tried 2 other motion sensors first and just couldn't get them to dial in to the time frame I wanted. Picked up the Amazon Basics (like I should have in the first place) Easy to install, set up and adjust. You get what you pay for!

Had to find a YouTube video that explained how to wire it correctly to work with a 3 way switch but once I got that done it worked amazing great for like 6 months now won't detect motion unless your almost touching it so kinda defeats the purpose of having it don't know why it stopped working correctly no one ever touches it it's at the end of a hallway next to a entry door from the back yard no one really uses maybe it felt neglected idk but with stuff like this u get what you pay for ...don't cheap out get a kasa or different brand with good reviews make sure it has plenty of YouTube videos just in case you have a old house with "creative wiring " and need help or buy this if u enjoy learning and going through youtube videos all day til u get lucky and figure it out .

Does not work with LED lights. Causes them to flicker.

I'm rating 5 stars because Amazon basics products tend to be great, however full disclosure you need an electrician I may have missed that part, so I had to return it they have one that's plug and play it's supposed to get here next week, so if you can pay an electrician get it.

Wow, that was a crazy setup. Entering pairing mode was difficult. The scan code didn't work, and I had a heck of a time getting it into pairing mode by holding the button. Finally, got the green light to flash but not sure what I did. Took a while to recognize it. I ended up turning on the 2.4GHz connection on my router but not sure if that was required. It might be needed to do the initial setup, but I turned it off after that and everything still works. The switch shows up as two different devices in the app. There's the on/off switch, and then there's the motion detector. You have to create a routine in the app to detect motion with the motion device and turn on with the switch device. Then create another routine to turn it off when there's no motion. I guess this gives you the most flexibility, but it was very counterintuitive. Works well once all that's done.

I’m happy overall. It works great and does exactly what I was wanting. Only somewhat frustrating aspect is that you have to set it up through a routine. Would be nice if it functions as intended straight out of the box. I had an issue setting up the routine correctly but luckily the app recommended a routine and that seemed to have fixed the problem I was having.
