I've owned every type of retractable USB-Lightning cable you can buy, from no-name-brand to brand, from cheap to expensive.... This is the BEST.The build quality is excellent - better than anything you'll ever find elsewhere. The cable is slightly longer (3.2') than most of the 2.0-2.5' brands and the connectors are solid, not loose. The retracting mechanism is clearly superior to cheaper units and the cable is thick, with the connector at 90 degrees to the flat cable, making this easier to use.I've tried the Micro USB + Lightning versions of these types of cables and they're always lacklustre, sadly. I have both the Lightning version of this cable as well as the Micro USB and both are fantastic. Do yourself a favor and spend a few bucks more, then keep this product and never worry or bother with any other cables again. I use this for charging and syncing with both my iPhone and iPad Pro and because they are certified, everything works perfectly (no weird popups telling you 'this accessory won't work' - this is the real deal). It handles quick charging via 2.1A charger. I've sold, given away, or tossed all of my other lighting cables, *even* the original Apple lightning cables. I've used it in 3 different countries with different chargers and adapters and it is flawless.This cable is the best option in the long run and there *doesn't exist* any other brands or knockoffs that have the same form factor, mechanism, and quality. I regret not just buying a bunch of these and saving myself the hassle of dealing with all the issues of cheaper cables found on amazon, groupon, ebay, etc ~ Hope this helps!

**Original post below, this is an update: I bought this for the airplane, so I hadn't used it when I wrote my last review. It stopped working after the second flight. Don't waste your money on this garbage product until they upgrade it. I will be returning now.Although I read the bad reviews on this product, it still had 3.5 stars, so I decided to buy it. Fabulous idea, but made so poorly it’s not worth the purchase. If they would have only spent an extra $10 on production, I think this could have been a great product and I would be willing to pay an extra $10. It hasn’t broken yet, but after extending and retracting it once, I’m scared to do it again.

Exactly what I needed to clear up some of the "cord clutter" in my car! This is nice and compact. It is a little hard to get it to retract back in after its stretched out, but I guess its worth it considering the price.

Buyer Beware!! This item looks great and seems to add a needed function. Here is the "rub", they tangle and jam most of the time!! Just like the old Notebook mouse retractable ones. The spring is two-way, so when you retract them, they tangle in a backlash, like a bait-fishing reel. There is no adjustable brake on these, the retract button is extremely flimsy, and prone to getting stuck, and or not work at all!If you are aware, take your time extending both ends at the same time, and retracting the same way you will not have as many issues. Would I buy again? NO!

Why can’t a good charging cord be made. As the ipad ages it becomes tethered to a power cord. So with the increased use the power cord frays, twisted and in some cases just falls apart from daily use. This product is no different as it only lasted a month. Right at the weakest point (see photo). The spring is too strong to work effectively as the cord needs to really pull hard to retract from the reel. It should be a gentle pull to activate the spring to pull or retract the cord. Thus reducing unnecessary wear and tear.This was supposed to be made to stretch with in reason right? Nice idea but terrible development. I haven’t found a way to replaced the aged battery so I am stuck being tethered to my power cord. And every iPad power cord fails at the same place, at the iPad connector port!!

Worked for two weeks and then not functional.

I absolutely love this retractable cord. This is wonderful for traveling without getting cords all crazy in your bag. I use my MagSafe charger when I can, but it is big and this I can throw in my purse or laptop bag or even my pocket and it is really perfect for all that. Only downside is speed of charging.
