I have the portrait colored pencils set from Castle Arts and I love the colors in that set. When I saw this set online, I was excited to try it out. This set is presented beautifully in the metal case with an easy to follow instruction booklet filled with handy tips and a thick high quality test card to test all the colors. It is great having a tester sheet with all the colors in front of you while using the pencils. There are three trays of colored pencils in the set and there are ingenious little handles on the tray edges to take the trays in and out of the metal case so the pencils stay flat and in order. Each pencil is numbered clearly so it matches the tester sheet. Definately take a little time to create the provided sampler of all the colors because it provides an excellent reference guide for any future drawings. I was skeptical about using these on wood but they are beautiful on soft sanded grain light wood. I'm totally in love with drawing with these on wood. I saw the wood suggestion in the booklet inside the set. I decided to do a set of coasters for a friend and I started with an avacado (photo added in review). I'm so in love with these pencils on wood. I did not use a blender or any additional materials to soften the pencil either. It's just the pencil drawing...it just turned out beautifully buttery. I'm going to seal it with a varnish and make some more.I also did some drawings with this set on heavy drawing paper and cold press watercolor paper and they are gorgeous. The set comes with examples to follow and you can even print things from their website and follow their instructions. One of my favorite castles is highlighted in the booklet too...Magical!These pastels in pinks, purples, blues and greens make a nice starting point for anyone to get aquainted with cool colors in their drawings to express mood and personal voice.One thing I noticed right away was the quality of the wood in the pencils is far superior to most colored pencils I have seen on the market. These feel more professional than other brands and I'm loving them. When I hand sharpened them they held together exceptionally well and had zero flakey bits of wood shavings like other brands with low quality wood components in the pencil.The set is excellent value for the money also and considering the prices of quality art materials now days, I highly recommend these for color quality, price, and ease of color application on a variety of papers and smooth wood surfaces. I'm looking forward to using these on canvas next!

These are the colors we are always seeking whether by mixing other colors trying to achieve these colors or that we are searching through other sets hoping to find one or two of these muted colors. This set has 72 of these glorious colors, and they come in a very nice hinged tin box in three removable trays. These colored pencils are wax based which means they are creamy and blend beautifully, especially when layered with other colors. These pencils can be used with pencils from other companies' sets with no problems. Even though this set is rather pricey, I'm really happy I got them. I like to do botanicals and these special colors are going to be a delight to choose from. This set is new to the market, so grab one in case they decide there isn't enough demand to keep it out there. You'll thank yourself later. 😍

I love how they look! Beautiful and velvety smooth! Great price for the amount. The container for them is actually really nice. I'm going to keep them in this container, when usually I place tin can colored pencils in wraps. But this tin container is actually well made and it's beautiful as well.

These muted colored pencils are a game-changer! The colors are beautifully soft and understated, making them ideal for blending.. They glide on paper which makes them a joy to use. They layer effortlessly, so transitions are seamless. These pencils give me complete control, whatever I'm working on. The muted palette adds a new touch to my pictures and I find myself reaching for these pencils over my brighter sets more often now. They’re very comfortable to hold too.

The Harmonious colored pencil is lovely. It consists of 72 very muted colors. Some of the colors are similar to each other and the set, while offering plenty of grays, blues and purples, lacks any yellows or golds, which would make the set less-dependent on additional full-color pencil sets. Obviously, there are no reds, which are not "muted" in most forms. The pencils have a nice laydown and layer nicely and are a great quality, especially considering the price. I will say that while some of them are well-pigmented, some colors are less-so. This set might be able to stand-alone if you're doing pink and purple botanical art; otherwise, you would need another set that includes yellows, oranges, reds. All in all, this set makes a nice addition to your pre-existing pencil sets by offering soft, muted colors that are not included in other sets.

There is nothing like a brand new set of colored pencils. Castle Arts colored pencils are great value for money, fun to use and good durability. These pencils are a mood, I must say. I admit my coloring has fallen off quite a bit. But when I came across this set (cause I have a few) my interest was sparked again. These are easy to use as well as sharpen. I like my pencils sharpened to a point. Makes it easier to reach smaller areas, and I feel like I have better control too. Give these a try.

(Think I have enough? LMAO!!!)Now I’m loving the Castle Harmonious 72 count colored pencils, they are silky smooth and the colors are really nice. They are a nice addition to my collection.I deal with chronic pain along with rheumatoid arthritis. So this is my outlet to be able to do something that helps me with my insanity LOL!!!
