American Explorer Universal Fishing Outfit, 7.5-Feet

I wouldn't pay 20 bucks for this kit.I was excited about the possibilities for this kit.... and intensely disappointed.Save your money!!!The reels are cheap, as is the line on them, and the first time I assembled the rod, I grabbed the tip and gently bent it to get a feel for the action. It snapped like dry spaghetti.I think a bluegill could have broken it. Just my luck, it was one of the pieces of which there are not duplicates too, I couldn't assemble either rod without that piece.

Nice set up that I took to a trip to New Zealand. Before trip set up to test, and broke one of the rod ferrell sections with minor pressure on the rod. No big issue, as kit has other options on the rod set up, and had a plane to catch. Upon first use of the rod using the spinning section, noticed funny cracking sound at base. Upon examination, found cracked section at butt. Assured that was not airline monkey baggage issue, as was in hard case suitcase. Proceeded to fish with remaining sections and bagged a nice feisty 3# brown trout!Think this is a great set-up for a variety of fishing. Not too big into spin casting reels, so replaced with my bait casting reel. Overall nice packaging and concept. Sent back broken rod sections to their warranty department this week, so see how well they stand up to the quality and service aspect of this product.UPDATE 4/14: Returned broken sections promptly and without question. Tossed in a few decent lures for my troubles. Each set-up offers an extended warranty for 500 days for 2 bucks, which I took. (suggested!) Very pleased with purchase and warranty service!

This will perfect for my bug out kit, just what the doc ordered.

I received my outfit as a gift. Terrific item. Great quality rod worth the full price by itself. Learning to fly fish now.I wouldn't have tried it otherwise.
