I have no idea why someone would try to sell junk and think people will be interested. Maybe 1out of 10 games work. Rhodes games are horrible and the screen is messed up. This is a fraud and I am trying to get the police involved!

So far very impressed with the number of recognizable titles from various game platforms. I've had others that had a few titles and tons of low quality games to fill. But this also has a very vivid hd screen of decent size and a very ergonomic feel when holding in your hands. The only complaint I have with it is the controls. Feels cheep, when the over all game system does not. For example if your pressing up it also will at times trigger the left or right direction button as well. And they seem to need a little extra force trigger a responce, and on games that require timing or hitting a sequence of direction commands like finishers in mortal combat it can be frustrating. So only 4 stars, taking one star for the controls. Only one game so far has had some glitching so far so good. Over all happy with this purchase fun and nostalgic gaming. But may in the future look to a higher end model to see if the controles feel better.

Great if you don’t want to save your game. If you play a game that offers save games, it will not save even if you start the game with a save state. As soon as you completely power off the device your save data is gone.Also on my latest play, the D-Pad buttons started jamming. The cursor in the game would move on its own.

The little handheld packs so much punch. It has so many games that work perfectly. The color onscreen is so bright and vibrant. Sound is as expected. Gameplay with controls is great and no lag or issue. So great to take my back to my teenage years with all these great games.

Updated 10June2025:After a little research I ended up getting a brand name 128GB memory card, I found the community maintained ArkOs for the R36Max, flashed it and moved ROMs over. It works great with the Community maintained ArkOs (thank you to those who worked on that version), have not found a game that does not work on it yet. There are a few games that have controller settings issues, but those are pretty easy to fix. The capability of this device (with the working OS) is actually pretty impressive (cheats, speed controls, save states, multiple emulators and controller settings, wireless connectivity (have not tested that yet), etc.) and I only messed with it for about 20 minutes before handing it off to the kids.After getting it to work, my oldest ordered one and it had the same problem. I performed the same ArkOs flash to a name brand card and it worked fine after that. It looks like the cards in the 2 units we got do not have a boot partition, not sure it needs one but it didn't work as shipped. The newly flashed cards work fine, but they work in the TF1 slot not in the TF2 slot (TF1 is shown as OS slot, TF2 is shown as ROM). Apparently you can have this device set up to work as either a single or dual card set up, I set up the single card and it works great.The hardware feels ok, I don't love the heart buttons and soccer ball function button; but my kids don't care so neither do I. The screen is pretty good, the sound is terrible when set to high (keeping it a little below the maximum volume clears it up) but is decent at low levels. Have not tried connecting it to a TV and will likely never try as this is meant for travel. I like that the buttons are recessed on the sides, otherwise I would be hitting that power button all the time because of hand placement. The menus take some getting used to but are by no means terrible. one of my favorite things is that you can put any game into the "favorites" menu in the base menu for quick access in the future.This would be a great 5 star product if it weren't for the lack of a working OS from shipping (2 units), the vast majority of people want these to work from the box without having to reflash and set up. The good thing is that the community behind these have made it really easy to get them working, there are Youtube videos and community boards with everything needed to make the corrections to get it running.If the seller would update what they are sending out with a working memory card this product would deserve a much higher rating.* Initial review:It worked fine for about 15 minutes, then it went to a black screen and now whenever I start it the screen goes black after loading. I have researched this issue and there are several possibilities including replacing the SD card, getting ArkOs and putting the roms back on. I would just return it but my kid already loves it (despite it only working for 15 minutes), so I am getting a new SD card and will try to get it back up and running. If I can get it working I will increase the rating to 2 stars.

I have been gaming all my life. Starting off with my grandmas Super Nintendo and Game Gear (late 90’s). This little handheld system brought back so many good memories. It looks so much like the original gameboy color as far as the exterior design. This system has just about every game system from Ps1 and below loaded with tons of games for each system. I recommend watching a few YT videos on the product for settings tweaking and understanding how things work a bit more in depth. But this has been my favorite purchase of 2025 so far.

This is maybe my 4th or 5th R36, but my first MAX. Love the translucent purple color reminiscent of the old Gameboy Color. Functions as all R36 do. Tons of preloaded, fun to play games to scratch that nostalgia itch. The bigger screen makes it feel a bit more premium. Nice QoL upgrade. Also super happy that it came with an included case!
