After years of trying to cut reasonably uniform slices of my weekly sourdough loaves without much success with bread knives and bow saws, I finally broke down and bought this machine. The first time out of the box it worked amazingly well, effortlessly sawing off perfect, uniform slices of bread set to the thickness that I chose, just like the photo in the ad shows. Apart from a few breadcrumbs to knock off and wipe up when you're done, there is no mess to clean up. It comes with two wrenches for keeping screw and bolt tensions correct on the base and the sliding thickness plate. The circular blade is fastened with a Phillips head screw. Simple and effective. Aiding in its flawless bread slicing are its four suction cups at its base. Their suction power is incredible to the point of being difficult to break free when you’re finished. I slipped a dull butter knife under them to pry them from our countertop. Needless to say, the machine did not move an iota during operation. The machine’s design and functioning are excellent, and its overall build quality is good and sufficient to its purpose. The wood and paint are attractively finished. A word of caution: the last slice of bread gets your guiding hand very close to the sharp blade. I’m going to use a cut-proof kitchen glove from now on. My wife took a short video of me making a perfect slice the first time, but for some reason it would not upload. Too bad!

Love love this so far. I bought this to cut even bread slices and adjust the thickness. It does the job. I hope it lasts because for a bread cutter this wasn't cheap. Only negative is there is no replacement blade or way to sharpen if it does get dull. Mine is on a metal surface so suction is amazing. You have to push the bread as you crank, if you don’t do it right your bread will tear and be a mess. Only took me two slices to figure it out and since every slice is perfect. Takes getting the feel right.

I make homemade bread and I use this new slicer today. It’s sliced through very easily in suction cups made it very steady. Everything came out. Perfect easy !!

VERY EASY FIX TO A COMMON ISSUE Received the slicer this morning and immediately put it to the test. Used a loaf of sourdough we made yesterday. I can confirm one of the biggest complaints with this slicer was the suction cups. Even moistening them did nothing to get them to stick. The slicer was sliding all over the countertop. That made it difficult to operate the machine safely without it wandering all over the counter. I can also see how some people were saying the screws securing the suction cups to the base were cutting into the counter. My fix... I removed the suction cups and replaced them with NON SKID FURNITURE PADS. Once I swapped out the pads for the suction cups, this slicer was NOT moving at all. Not even in the slightest. Problem 100% solved. I did notice that near the end of each piece being sliced it did taper off a bit making semi uneven slices, but that really isn't a game changer. I would have given it 5 stars had I not had to modify the slicer. Do the fix and it works like a charm!

EDITED: I still love this slicer, but does anyone know how to get the turning handle to STOP falling off? My husband put it back on a couple weeks ago, but 4 loaves later it's fallen off again. There were a couple tools provided with this bread slicer but none of them pertain to tightening this handle. HELP! I admit to returning 2 of these, but 3 times was the charm. The first problem was not a product issue. The box arrived half smashed, and it was missing a part.. The second one I ordered was a problem. The slicing wheel was slightly off and it was not only hitting the side of the metal top when the handle was turned, but when it got to the last few slices it was SMASHING the bread into the open area at the lower board. Not okay.... I saw no way to adjust that?! Yet, I saw the positive reviews, and I soooo wanted this item to work! I don't like electrical things. It's a very nice weight, and feels like a quality item. So... I decided to give it one more try. The 3rd purchase has been great! It makes fast work of slicing up the bread! Easy to use and clean! I'm sooo happy I gave it one more chance. It was worth the purchase price in the long run.

This is an awesome slicer for the price! It is built very well! It allows you to adjust the width of your slice and saves me so much time! The suction cups are meh. I have it on a silicon mat with a lip to help prevent sliding. I use it to slice sandwich loaves and artisanal loaves and it does great. Blade still sharp and slices great after having it for several months. Do not slice your loaf warm though or it will pull it in and your slice will be u even. The only thing I don’t like is that mine didn’t come with a cover for when not in use so some of the blade is exposed. Overall, you can’t beat it for the price.

First order came used but worked fine. I returned it because i purchased a new not used one. Second one came in, i was having so much fun using it and experimenting, it worked well, exactly what i wanted to do. However, 1 big issue - We noticed small metal shavings (Partials) - I though it was a fluke, So i had my husband take it apart to look at the gears to see where the metal shaving could be coming from without success. He lubed the gears, cleaned it and put it back together. Unfortunately the metal partials continued to happen every time i sliced bread. I contact the manufacture and they are aware of the issue and recommended us to do what we had already one so. Having metal shaving (Partials) in my food is not safe. I requested to return it.

My best friend gifts me fancy sourdough all the time, so I gifted her this for her birthday! She LOVES it so much!!

The slicer cuts well but the suction cups are not very strong and the slicer moves around while you’re cutting.

Was excited to receive this product. Disappointed to be honest. The most important parts of this product are the suction cups to ensure it remains secured to the counter when in use. The suction cups didn't hold the product down. It moved around while cutting my loaf. I was trying to hold down the device with my hand while cutting.

Absolutely love this cutter! Never again will my bread have huge variations in thickness. Works very well with nice sourdough breads. Be careful as softer breads will have a bit of an issue with cutting even slices.
