Excellent pocket pen, with every dollar
I like the ease of use of a click pen, but whenever I carry one in my pocket it invariably gets clicked and I end up with ink in my pocket. Not this pen! This pen's unique design pops the writing tip out when you pull on the pen, not when you press it. There is literally no chance it could engage in my pocket. When you pull on the end of the pen, the writing tip exposed itself, and the pen lengthens by about a third of it's closed length. This brings it up to a fairly normal pen length. It has a satisfying tactile click when you extend or retract it, and I often use it to fidget with. The click barely makes any sound, so it doesn't bother other people. I've been using this pen for a few years now, and have bought two more, after losing it twice and not being able to do without it. All have had the same excellent all-aluminum construction, and worked flawlessly for years. I ended up finding the two missing ones, so now I have three! One for my pocket, one for my bag, and one for my desk. A bit of overkill but hey. If you want a full sized pen that stores compactly in a pocket or bag, I heartily recommend this one. It may also be the only one that does this.

Telescoping design is as cool now as it was on the first day.
Checking Amazon today, I realized I have carried this pen daily for over a year now. I carried a bullet-style space pen for years before that, until it was lost. I was skeptical of this pen at first, and I'll admit I bought it at least in part because I just thought it looked cooler than the bullet-style space pen. What I discovered was that this pen is superior in almost every way. It is thicker than the bullet-style Space Pen at the point where you grip it, which makes writing with it much more pleasant. The grooves on my bullet-style space pen (which are only present on some models) were very shallow, and while they did provide additional grip, it was minimal; this pen has deeper, widely-spaced grooves in the grip area which make it easy to grip the pen even under adverse conditions. Unlike some, I have not experienced any problems with the telescoping mechanism. In fact, it feels as though it locks as positively now as it did the first day I got it. It works well enough that even now, looking like it's been rattling around in a pocket for a year (along with my keys,) when I let someone else use it, it still tends to get an admiring look. Its party piece is, in my mind, that it can be used one-handed. Using a bullet-style space pen one-handed was the art of fidgeting off the cover and not dropping it while writing with the stubby part, unless you were dexterous enough to reassemble it with one hand (which I never was.) With this pen, I can extract the pen with my pocket, slide the telescoping mechanism up, and with minimal repositioning, be ready to write without ever using my other hand. Not gonna lie, this makes signing for a delivery feel a little bit cooler. Negative points: The Fisher Space Pen logo wore off in the first month. I really wish it hadn't. In addition, the bullet-style space pen has the cool retro looks going for it. This doesn't look as nice when new as the many designs of the bullet-style pen, let alone after being scarred from everyday use and travel. But I'm not taking off a star for cosmetic weakness. This thing's job is to ride around in my pocket and be awesome on command, and it has done so admirably. Ultimately, whether you get this telescoping space pen or a regular bullet-style space pen, I don't think you'll be disappointed; they are both well-manufactured writing implements from a fine company. If you want looks, the bullet-style pen might be marginally better. If you want functionality, buy this one. Right now.

Best pocket pen ever
This pen fits in most pockets perfectly. Its telescopic design makes it safe from “leaks.” Sometimes it wants to unscrew at the tip, but mostly it behaves well. It truly is the perfect pocket pen.

Great pen works flawlessly.
great pen would buy again, little pricey, but this thing writes and works like a champ. small, compact, extends to comfortable length. Would buy again. would like in black, grey is ok but just not really my color. Update: several years later and really enjoy the pen never fails to write. I actually created a cut out in my wallet right were the fold is at and insert inside the wallet. fits perfectly and snuggly inside wallet. Use to have a bullet style and had that one for maybe over twenty years. loved it, but lost it. It was shiny and slippery so decided to try this version, I enjoy the telescope and it feels well in the hand when extend in hand. The bullet style was a little frustrating due to you having to remove cap and flip the pen to use. two step, two handed process, this version just pull at the with thumb and forefinger or if hard pressed just pull out with my lips. never fails, durable, compact, has not scuffed or scratch surface even though I use on a regular basis. It's small, so it does get lost if I just toss in my front pocket, I have to remember to return to wallet so it stays safe and secure. I have had this in pocket with car keys and never a scratch. so very durable. photo's are pen extended, pen retracted, proportion to wallet when closed, fully inserted in open wallet, inserted in wallet top view. Fits just perfectly and doesn't come out. highly recommended and would buy again. This is a great version and like the ribs on lower portion of pen

Writes smooth and you can feel the quality in this pen. It was not as long as It looks in reviews and pictures but it fits nicely in the hand.

A pen that truely defines everyday carry. I have been using this pen for the last few days and the experience has been awesome. The pen writes very well and can write on any surface as advertised. I needed a small pen which I could tuck in my pocket without the hassles and this pen got the job done. I love the telescoping mechanism and as it is small when closed, it stays put in the pocket without falling off. No cap no headache, just retract the pen for writing mode and close when not needed. A marvel indeed!
