Hello, One hole according to the size of the plate will be enough for the back of the fan unit to pass through. To make this process extremely simple and straightforward, the best tools will be a jigsaw, drill, and drill bits. This allows you to make the cuts effectively and mount them properly! Yes, comes with screws to surface mount and also bolts to mount straight through a panel.

Q: Hi, Could you please advise which direction the air flows?

It is reversible - very easy to change the direction by undoing the screws and installing the fans the other way within the enclosure - full instructions are included for doing this. I have two identical S5's installed - one as inflow and one as outflow in a hifi cabinet.
