Great way to brew tea! Ours is over 10 years old!
We've had one Ice Tea Pot for over ten years. The pitcher still works, so we're surprised to hear about the troubles people have had. We've used it nearly every day and the internal pipes are beginning to clog up with lime from the water! So instead of cleaning its insides, we are thinking to buy another 2-quart! Some helpful notes: 1. The cycle time on ours is 8 minutes. 2. If you want stronger tea, don't add water to the pitcher, just poor in a second batch of water into the heating unit and continue to fill the pitcher! (Two batches of water is all two tea bags are good for!) 3. A 10:1 dilution of household bleach will clean the pitcher and the tea bag holder. This also keeps the tea tasting fresh. Just make enough solution to soak the pitcher in over night and the problem will be dissolved the next morning! The main causes of bad tea in restaurants seem to be containers with built up tea residue and over-brewing. 4. For strong tea, simply place two tea bags flat, side-by-side, over the hole in the holder. The tea should be spread out in the bag, preventing any water to escape without first passing through the tea. 5. Brewing loose tea works great and takes very little tea, if the tea is spread evenly across the entire bottom of a coffee filter. Again, if you want strong tea, just refill the heating unit with water and continue to brew! (Instead of diluting the tea in the pitcher with water.) 6. Our favorite teas are the Bigelow teas, both regular and green teas with the names Constant Comment, Plantation Mint and Earl Grey, in that order. We've tried many competing teas from other manufacturers and like these the best! ;^) 7. Even inexpensive Lipton tea will brew acceptably will in the Iced Tea Pot. However, to remove the residual bitterness, add about 1 to 1.5 teaspoons of lemon juice per pitcher. 8. Sweeten with a tablespoonful of local honey. Not only a good sweetner, but also will make hayfever and sinus problem lessen after a month or so of daily consumption. (Asia honey does no good unless you live in Asia!) ;^)

Makes the perfect pitcher of Iced tea every time!
Makes the perfect pitcher of Iced tea every time! We needed to replace our previous Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker of 10 plus years. This is a new model because it does not look or operate the same as our previous model but, nonetheless it still works the same. I have already made several pitchers of tea and this machine is super easy to use. The tea tastes the same as it would with our previous iced tea maker. family and I love brewed iced tea and I will make a few different batches in one setting. One that is sweetened, unsweetened and a flavored mix. To use this machine, add water to the large pitcher. It has a fill line that shows you how much water to add, then you pour that water into the brewing machine placed at the very top. Once, that is done, add ice up to the ice fill line in the large pitcher. At this point you can choose to add sugar or a sweetener with the ice or, you can add it after the tea is brewed. My personal choice is adding it with the ice. Then, put the brewing lid on and put in several tea bags of your choice. I use the large size tea bags and add about 3-4 of them. Put the pitcher up against the brewing machine and make sure the lid opening is facing the machine. That is where the water will pour into the pitcher. Turn it on, and the brewing will begin. It only takes a few minutes before the Iced Tea is ready. When the brew is finished, then remove the brewing lid and replace it with the serving lid. You can throw away the tea bags or place them inside the pitcher, which is my preference. When I am ready to throw out the tea bags I will either put the pitcher in the fridge or, if I am making another batch, I will pour the tea into a different pitcher. Then start the process from the beginning. It is so super easy and fast! Having this machine is wonderful if you like to make your own iced tea. I really like that I can add regular tea and some different flavors like peach or raspberry as well, and make a nice flavored tea batch. Mr. Coffee is a great brand that I would recommend to anyone that is trying it for the first time or, needs to replace their previous model. Not to mention, the price is very affordable.

We had one of these when our kids were small and ran it until it quit. By then the kids were getting older and the instant gratification of ice tea crystals seemed a bigger hit. We were reminiscing and I had a look for one of the tea makers like we used to have (Costco at that time) and lo and behold there it was. There were other choices for, in some cases a significant amount more money but this one was a match for our old one and it just happened to be the most reasonably priced. With the heat this summer we have been making a 2l jug just about every day. We now use RO water (water cooler bottled) and by removing the minerals the life expectancy should be excellent for the unit. 4 tea bags of orange pekoe, a 1/4 can of concentrated lemonade right on the ice, ice to the mark on the jug and a cup (usually less) of sugar and we have wonderful ice tea. I also use a mixer jug (spinner inside on a handle) and transfer the tea from the brewing jug to the mixer and add the sugar. It uses quite a bit of ice but we bought a counter top Frigidaire ice machine that is the size of a toaster from Costco ($100) and it makes more than enough ice for the job. The ice machine is also something I recommend, and is available from Amazon as well.

Smaller than my last iced tea maker but I just add extra water during the cycle and pour into larger pitcher and add water and ice.
