Not just a People "Pee Pad"
I ordered these to see if they are better then the regular pee pads for cats, and must say, these are absolutely wonderful!!! The pee pads for cats (and dogs) leaks right through the supposed absorbency backing, to where these, for people, retains it completely from leaking through. Even though these can be machine washed/dry, I choose to rinse them out by hand and air dry, not only to minimize the wear and tear, but also that of my wash machine/dryer, and electricity. :-) After I rinse them out, I wring them out and drape over shower curtain, which helps the drips to roll down the curtain, instead of dripping down. Also, put a towel on the floor for any drips on the outside of the shower. Really, forget the regular cat/dog pads, they are a waste of money. These pads for people are what those pee pads for dogs/cats SHOULD BE. I bought 2, this way I can put a new one down while the other one is drying.

Works great for pets too!
We have an older dog that is having some older dog issues with bladder control. We tried a variety of puppy training pads and none of them worked as advertised. Inevitably they always leaked and left a mess all around our dog's crate. These bed pads by Invacare are perfect. We've never had a problem with leak through and they fit quite nicely in a standard 24"x36" dog crate. You just fold up a little on the outside and it works fine. We've washed most of ours a dozen times by now and they still are absorbent and haven't picked up any stains. Most importantly, perhaps, they don't smell either. When our dog has an accident we just take the pad out, rinse it out quickly, and then throw it in the wash. While it hasn't fixed our dog's problems, it has made the problems a lot more manageable.

Works great for incontinent dogs
I bought three of these to put down on the floor for my aging basset hound who's suffering from kidney failure. I have no idea how many cc's of urine she's producing thanks to her increased water consumption, but so far these pads are holding it all. I did notice a faint chemical odor when I first pulled the pads out of their packages, but that disappeared after they'd been washed a couple of times. I had thought the fabric side would be more soft and padded, like a standard mattress pad. Instead, it's pretty thin, which is why I've given the product four stars and not five. But the backing really does seem to be waterproof. My hound, who's still getting the hang of these things, has peed on the floor several times and then pulled the pad, backing-side down, over her "indiscretion" to hide it. When I've picked the used pad up, the quilted top is dry and the backing drips. If three turn out to be not enough, I'll choose to buy a few more of these pads. I've washed them almost every day for the last month or so, and they're holding up fine.

Cut down the amount of laundry!
I've tried several types of mattress pads and many have failed to tolerate the daily washing. So far, this has proven to be the best pad for daily washing. I also have not had the problem of melting the pad due to leaving it the dryer too long, or having the washing agitator tear it up. Using two of these pads on the bed instead of relying on one twin size mattress pad has also cut down on the amount of laundry. This pad sits on top of the sheets which often means the only thing needing to be washed are the pads. I've been placing two pads on the bed since our child sometimes moves one in the middle of the night. I am also impressed with the affordability of these pads which makes it easy to purchase enough to last the whole week. I would recommend purchasing the pad with the flaps to help keep it in place during the night.

Well Worth the Price
My father is in a nursing home and my mother just came home, completely bedridden. I have been purchasing bed pads like these for over 2 years. I wish I found these sooner. What I love besides the protection is the flaps that tuck into the bed because the biggest challenge with bed pads is they slip. As soon as I sign off from this review, I am ordering more.

I Love this product
I Love this product, Its comfortable for my mom. It doesn't cringle up like the paper ones. I actually ordered 2, so if she wets one, I justput the other one while the wet one is washed. Machine washes great, I would hang dry but I have put in the dryer on a lower heatwhich is just as good as hang drying. This is definitely a great buy

DID THE JOB FOR US.
WE GOT THIS TO USE ON THE HOSPITAL BED MY HUSBAND SPENT 6 WEEKS IN WHEN HE BROKE HIS HIP. IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY TABS TO HOLD IT DOWN UNDER THE MATTRESS, BUT IT WASHED UP NICELY. HE COMPLAINED TOME THAT IT KEPT BUNCHING UP AS HE MOVED AROUND BUT FOR THE MONEY AND THE LENGTH OF TIME WE HAD TO USE IT I GUESS IT WAS WORTH IT. WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE SOME TYPE OF TIE DOWN SO IT WOULD NOT SHIFT AS HE MOVED AROUND. IT WASHED UP NICELY.

Exactly as Described
I cannot speak to how these work for a human as I purchased these pads for my couch to protect it from my old, incontinent pooch. So far, so good! I have not had to wash them yet, but the reviews indicated that washing them is hassle free. The price was less than waterproof "pet blankets" and I just laid a regular blanket on top of the pads. It was a win-win for me.
