No. I suppose if your door is a little wider, as in maybe a few mm, then yes because it'll have to open a bit more to fit, thus making the space a tad wider. Unless you have a tiny kitten, your cat will not be able to squeeze through. I have a purebred Bombay, and she is always looking for trouble lol She's also very lean and can squeeze through just about any space. Thus, the Door Monkey! I bought one to keep her out of my bathroom, but also to allow ventilation. I love the fact that I don't have to lock the latch EVERY time I walk out of the room! It's hands down one of the best little investments I've made. I would go so far as to call it a lifesaver. If you need a wider space, I believe there are fish shaped, rubber or plastic latches sold on here that would be perfect for letting kitty in, whilst keeping puppy out. Happy hunting :)

Plastic, they do break. My 1 year old and 3 year old both broke one each. When they were affordable, no worries, but at $13 each now, they aren’t worth it.

yes. Your 13 month old could open it from one side (the other would be harder but doable). I would just keep it high enough on the door that the 3 year old can reach it, but not the 13 month old.
