Q: Does this work with windows 11?

Yes. I'm using this with my Windows 11 PC. Pretty much plugged it in to a USB port and started using it.

Q: Where the hell is my toslink output? This has a hole with a screw in the middle.

You pull real hard on those plugs and they'll come out, revealing the plugs you're looking for.

Q: Want to use with a audio mixer (pyle pbxu43bt) will this send the pc audio back through the mic input?

Only if you enable the listen to device option withing Windows to playback the mic input through the audio output.

Q: at 1% volume, it is still quite loud. is there a fix? is mine defective? one other person posted this question, but the answer was not valid .

The speakers you have attached to it should have a volume control of their own in addition to the volume built into your source device(presumably a computer). If that doesn't work, try adjusting the levels. In windows, go to Control Panel --> Sounds. Locate the device, double-click on it, then go to "Levels". This should give you an additional point of finer control
