I use a Zagg Fusion screen protector which is a adhesive semi-rigid screen protector, same shape as glass and fits perfectly fine with Ringke case.

Q: How much protection will this give when dropped on gravel or asphalt?

Very little. If you drop it, it'll protect the glass back from scratches. But it will not protect the glass back from breaking inside the case. Get an otter box defender pro

Q: How the grip and is this slippery kind of material?...I use Spigen in past and they are very good in terms of grip.

Side grip is great, back side is kind of slick.
