VDI Design Guide: A comprehensive guide to help you design VMware Horizon, based on modern standards (EUC Design Series)

Hats off to vHojan for writing this book, it is provides a great foundation. I worked on various VDI projects in the past (Citrix, Horizon) and there are a lot of moving pieces and requirements for this type of Infrastructure. It contains a lot of valuable information and resources on things to think about and what components or software would be best. The information is well laid out and provides great examples for real scenarios that vHojan has encountered in his work experience as well as interviews from other experts in the field. The topic on vGPU/NVIDIA was unexpected and would definitely be considering that for future projects.. I really enjoy how he presented the concepts and introduction in the first 30-40 pages these concepts and terms flow really well between each chapter and are easy to read and consume.Overall great read, solid foundation provided for anyone looking to get into VDI for their organization. This book doesn't lay out every micro-setting that needs to be performed as this changes over-time but it is the best resource I have come across regarding the solutions and best ways of pushing/modifying such settings out.Last Updated: 8-15-2018Status: Completed Reading.

I work for a VMware partner as an EUC engineer and found this book very valuable. It validated much of my existing knowledge and provided me with the tools I needed to facilitate better design sessions with customers. I would say this book could be considered the unofficial study guide for the VCAP7-DTM design exam. I read the book and passed the exam without any additional studying. The final chapters of the book seemed to get a little light, i think it would have been beneficial to expand upon monitoring, provide some guidance on the people and process changes needed to ensure a successful virtual desktop deployment, and touch on the larger picture of digital transformation with Workspace One as a whole (perhaps the next book :)) Thanks for writing it!

In this book, I find a lot of new for yourself. Technology stack is described perfectly. Need to add more information about monitoring and maybe experience with Workspace One. Thank you for this book.

Excellent book

Comprehensive VDI resource. Well written information that I was able to utilize in my day-to-day job immediately. Good as both learning material and as a reference. Has one of the best explanations of CPU/vCPU scoping/provisioning I have come across to-date. Only complaint- as of this review.... no Kindle version :(

It isn't often that I pick up a technical book and can't put it down! But in this case, I read it cover to cover within a few days, as it was so interesting and well written.I've been an engineer with VMware datacenter products for over 10 years, and am a VCAP. I haven't really ventured far into VDI, but this book answered so many questions and provided excellent knowledge. It is written in a very engaging style and seems to anticipate your next questions so that you are learning more and more as you go through - such an enriching experience!I hope the author produces more books, as he really is an awesome technical author.... Now, back to my home lab for more hands on Horizon!... :)

I am not that savvy on VDI but I have learnt some great stuff from my inital read of this book. Just on general design concepts as they can be applied outside of VDI too.
