Q: do you have to sit in front of it with it shining into your face? How often and long?

I put on my breakfast table just slightly off center about two feet from my face. I usually eat my breakfast while reading the paper. It's on maybe 30 to 45 minutes, and I don't look directly into the light. This is my second light. I had one of the large heavy original ones. The new one is much smaller and lighter. I'm very happy with it. It actually works to keep my SAD at bay.

Full spectrum refers to the visible spectrum of light that people see and UV light is outside of the visible spectrum.

Q: What is the lux measurement at 18”, which would be a typical distance to the eyes for a light placed on a table or desk?

I really believe the Lux Measurement MUST take into account NOT ONLY the distance from the eyes, BUT ALSO the exposure TIME. What I have been able to derive from the information provided is: You will absorb 10,000 Lux at the BRIGHTEST Setting: at 6" in 30 minutes; at 12" in 60 minutes, at 18" in 90 minutes at 24" in 120 minutes.
