I was a bit skeptical when I bought this log splitter, but I've been pleasantly surprised. I burn primarily juniper that I harvest from burn areas. This wood is fairly hard and mostly straight grained, but it's a chore to split with an axe. This splitter doesn't even slow down when splitting logs that are 18" + in size. I strongly recommend you buy the stand made for this or plan on building your own or you will have a very sore back after a few hours. This unit does not have much ground clearance. Also, because it is so low to the ground, the motor sucks up a lot of the dust and debris from splitting. Raising it up a couple of feet really helped with the sore back and the garbage getting sucked in. I did end up putting a bandana over the air intake to help prevent problems, which helped a lot.

There isn't a log too wide for this splitter - if the length isn't too long and it fits between the wedge and the ram, this thing will power right through it. I was going to get a 25 ton gas splitter but this splitter has split every log i have asked it to. And I have used it quite a bit. Be careful, mine was shipped with hydraulic oil on the low side of the safe zone, so that when i had this on a slight incline the pump cavitated and the ram wouldn't move. Regardless, this is a seriously industrial strength super duty log splitter and I couldn't be happier. I did quite a bit of research before I bought it.

I like having the splitter elevated. but the splitter is a bear to move on the stand. No reasonable place to grab and pull. The wheels are too small for anything, but smooth concrete and the stand flexes too much while you're pulling it. Once I get it to where I need it, I really like it.

The log spotter is great, just be aware it does not split the log completely - you'll need to finish it off with the axe. I haven't tried using a chock behind the log, yet.

Needs a little more reinforcement between front an rear supports for when you need to move it across uneven ground. Too much pressure and stress is place on the rear axle and supports causing them to twist slightly. Over time it may prove to be a real problem in stability, even to the point of breaking. If it was smooth ground, or surface, not a problem. Still a great addition to get the splitter up higher where one can work with it. The extensions should automatically come with the splitter. Have had it now since 2019, and I REALLY like it and have had no problems with it. Very reliable. But it could have a stronger support legs and slightly taller to preclude having to bend over so much, especially for us old guys. Would buy it again in a heartbeat.
