The Crazy Rich Asians Trilogy Box Set

This is normally not my genre of books, but I’ve heard so many things about this series that I decided to give it a try- and I’m really glad I did! This is such a funny crazy series. I really thought that the 2nd and 3rd books wouldn’t live up to the first but the series just kept getting better and better and the conclusion was great! Surprisingly, I also learned a great deal about the culture and history of Singapore and other Asian territories as well as numerous global destinations. That was an unexpected but very pleasant surprise! I HIGHLY recommend this series!

This was a fun and a bizarre read. It is one of the only books that I felt to read after watching the movie. I didn’t know how insane things would be from the books, but I trusted them to out pass my expectations and they did. I breaks the normal stereotypes most would think of a romance with a billionaire and gives insight to the Asian culture that I never learned in school. I’m glad I got the books.

While the movie and the book are different, that's to be expected. Investing the time to read all three books is well worth the time. What I like about the books is they are intertwined in a way the movie would never be Abe to tell in three movie's, much less one. If you take the time, it is really worth waiting for the conclusion.

I just started reading the Kindle edition and I have a few comments on the Kindle format only. I wish I'd known before purchasing, since I may have purchased the paperbacks instead so I'm sharing the thoughts for others considering format. I will add comments on the actual books as I finish reading them. I love the film and own it so I expect to enjoy the books... TBD.... 1. The book doesn't support scrolling which is a bummer for me - I really like that feature 2. The footnote icons are in blue. If you use the dark format you won't be able to see them 3. The footnotes are at the end of the chapter. Unfortunately in many cases they did not include the word or phrase they are translating so you have to page back to try and find it to relate the phrase to the translation UPDATE: now that I have finished all three in the series, I have to say I really really enjoyed it! There are some very interesting and surprising twists, and I hope there are more to come from this author in a similar vein. I will be looking for them!

I saw the movie so was concerned when the book was so different. Surprisingly, I got into the different stories and all the people. Some I liked and others I didn't. I had trouble putting the book down! As I was nearing the end of the third book I started wondering if there would be a fourth.

Hilarious high jinx of the rich and fauxmas. Great comic writing to lift the mood. Unrealistic but plausible enough for easy immersion. Loved the entire trilogy. A bit TOOOOOO neatly tied up ending for the core antagonist too casually mentioned as a ps type thrown in memory of anecdotal second-hand gossip. Could have used it as content rather than a final chapter fast forwarded into and memories and comments tying the entire story into a simplified little pretty but basic bow to top it off. Follows in the genre footsteps of Jackie Susann (Valley of the Dolls, The Love Machine) and Olivia Goldsmith (First Wives Club, Flavor of the Month) with Asian flair and bigger money.

Although Crazy Rich Asians has been around fir some time now, I’ve never read the book nor seen the movie. In fact, I didn’t realize that there was a series of three books. However, one of my friends sent me a photo of a page from the last book. My husband’s grandfather, a well-known French photographer was mentioned. She said the books were hysterically funny. I bit the bullet and purchased. And I feel bad that my family had to deal with me putting everything aside in between Christmas preparations to lie down on the sofa and read. And read. And read! Without giving spoilers, Kevin Kwan has managed to intertwine generations of ....well.... Crazy Rich Asians and their selfishness, entitlement and obsession with brand names to a level of high entertainment! The central story follows a couple, Nick Young and Rachel Chu..and how others attempt to sabotage their relationship. That’s all I’m gonna tell you! You really need to pay attention in the first few chapters of the first book because the families are incredibly huge and a good number of characters are introduced. Once you get past that.. it’s smooth sailing. My only criticism is in the second and third books, at times it reads like a fashion magazine with all the name dropping , getting to the juice of the story line is more fun! Regardless, if you want an easy read that’s fun and entertaining and need something to make you chuckle and giggle (because 2020 needs to go away!) this series is it! Ohhhhh and the third book is especially fun-my husband got a kick when I surprised him by reading the paragraph that mentions his grandfather!!!!

Love, love, loved reading this trilogy. It grabs you n book one and leaves you breathless in book 3. A great read.

Great pack, excellent edition. If you read the first one you can’t stop until you read all. These novels help me to understand Singapore more (I’ve been living there for 5 years)
