Understand what you are buying before you get it people!
After reading the reviews I felt a few things need to be addressed because clearly some of ya’ll don’t know how to read before you purchase or do research. This is not a toy for younger kids and that is pretty plain as day if you actually read and look at it and watch the Tutorial videos. This is also not a product that you are going to amazing at the first few goes... this does not make it cheap just because you are impatient and think it should magically look like the vids with little to no effort on your part.Obviously it’s not going to look like it is really flying to you or anyone standing within a certain range or that knows there is a string... but it creates the illusion it is to those standing away and that are non the wiser. This product isn’t for everyone. But for Cosplayers or for someone with a true love for Harry Potter this would be an interesting and fun gift.

Excellent cat toy
My 3-yr-old wanted a golden snitch for Christmas. This was all I could find. I think it caused him to realize that magic isn't real. The invisible string is extremely difficult to manage. But eventually he gave up trying and just enjoyed having a snitch. The flapping wings are kind of fun.He left it out one night and the cats found it. They REALLY enjoyed it. Turns out the thin plastic wings are no match for a pair of kittens. It was destroyed by morning.Too bad there's not a kid-toy version of a snitch out there. Or a cat-toy!

Be careful with the string, but otherwise the golden snitch is pretty good !
This golden snitch was pretty good. I liked the stand it came with. I wasn’t happy with the string. It kept breaking and wasn’t strong. You should probably be careful with the string. If you want to give it to someone as a gift, they need to know how to use the golden snitch. The packaging was really good. It came very smoothly and didn’t break.

Vastly overrated
We were in London and saw the demonstrated at 9-3/4. They wanted a bunch of money so Amazon to the rescue--since I ordered it while standing at King's Cross it still counts, right. My daughter played with this for about 5-minutes on Christmas Day before getting bored and has not since As a toy it is really complicated. Basically how it works is a sticky putty that sticks behind your ear (or doesn't) and to the Snitch that keeps the two connected. You "fly" it by keeping the very small (almost invisible) string suspended from your hand. The reality is the toy does not "fly" at all. You use it like a puppet while it flaps its wings.RECOMMENDATION: If you want this to fool your friends (at a distance) or you are a HUGE Harry Potter Fan go ahead but if neither applies, buy a quad copter they are more fun.

This thing is super cool
This thing looks so cool when it's in action. I wasn't really sure what it was about but the reviews were great and we love HP so I got it for my daughter (11) for Christmas and wow! It looks really cool. Very good purchase.

It's a ball on a string...makes a better display piece
We bought this for our son and probably didn't research it as much as we should. Basically it's a ball with wings and you attach fishing line to it and move it around with your hand. It doesn't hover or do anything magical, it just dangles from you hand, ear, shirt or whatever you want to attach the string to. Our son used it one day and was not excited about it. It at least comes with a display stand so now he just has it displayed in his room with his Harry Potter items. It looks better as a display piece then it did as a flying snitch. I wouldn't recommend this item.

Super cool
Used for Harry Potter birthday party and this was a huge hit! The invisible wire is REALLY invisible! It is awesome and even has a cool printout about quidditch that can be hung.
