Operator Survival Tool 308/7.62 - BCG Carbon Scraper

I searched for various castle nut wrenches for my AR15s and this product came up, as the top result no less. This is not a castle nut wrench. In fact, the lugs to lock into the castle nut are not even spaced far enough apart to fit on any of my castle nuts. I can get one lug into a slot, but I already couldve done that with literally any screwdriver head, punch, or other small tool to hammer down on to tighten the castle nut.This is easily one of the worst products I've ever purchased. It's clearly a cast piece that is crudely cut with no rounding of any edges. The metal is sharp and will absolutely hurt you, even if you attempt to use it for its actual purpose as a carbon scraper.Do not purchase this product, it is not a castle nut wrench, do not believe the recommendations or the positive reviews. I have owned this product for less than an hour and I have already started a return process.

This tool is awesome. I wish I had it while I was in the Marine Corps and needed to clean my rifle after a week or two of hard use. The tool is specifically designed to clean the tough to reach parts of the BCG. I can get through tough deposits of carbon without wasting time scrubbing with the small end of a cleaning brush or going through a ton of cotton swabs. If you beat up your AR, or are in the military and are tired of your armorer not accepting your rifle then you need this tool. It will save you TIME! It's compact enough where you can add it to your range pack or if you're going to the field, it won't take up the precious space in your pack pogey bait and dip, RAH!

Tiny tools suck for loosening and tightening things FYI . No handle . Gonna have to buy this and something to use for a handle. Or be prepared to cut your fingers off or get poked by that sharp point on top while try to get off a castle nut. Research longer and find something bigger and better. Not one video out there shows people using this tiny tool.

I’m sure it’s my fault that I didn’t understand the tool is only around 4” long over all. So I slid it into a aluminum sleeve to apply more pressure on unloosing the castle nut and the sleeve broke...slipped and I sliced deep into my hand with the dandy little tool that seems to have shape pointed teeth on the end.....thanks that’s it. I’ll be ordering an actual AR tool now. By the way for a survival tool it’s extremely sharp all around. So you my survive the situation but then bleed out.

I was hasty in buying an armorer's tool for my first AR build and picked this one simply on price. Decent field piece, but not what I was looking for and that's on me. Nowhere in the title or description did it say it was a barrel wrench/etc so I can't fault them for that. I will say that I was a little angry that it popped for "armorer's tool" so I go 4* in the hopes that they put a big old disclaimer at the top of their product description or work with Amazon to pull them from that search parameter.

Photos attached show the loose fitting for the tool. Before I noticed what was causing the difficulty in unscrewing I had already messed up a bit of the threads. A quick grinding an angle allows for it to still grab and not touch the threads.I am very happy with the product, it is good and sturdy, does the job well after the modification. I slid a deep socket over the end, it makes a nice handle when needing to apply some force without digging into your hands.

This tool is small and very hard to use. The hard material hurts your hands and I would be surprise if anyone was able to loosen a castle nut with this thing. There is no way to get any leverage without taking a hammer to it.. I ended up damaging my threads more then anything. I will be purchasing the bigger one for sure. I’m sure it will do fine in cleaning, but I would much rather use a different method.

A very handy little tool for the field. Have not ha a chance to use it on an AR, however I know it’s main purpose is to be an emergency tool for servicing rifles in the field (hunting, Law enforcement, Military, etc), where access to a full gun cleaning kit may be limited. Small and slim, can easily fit into any pocket, bag, Molle gear, etc. also very sturdy, does not seem flimsy when I used the tool as a pry tool. Also has a sturdy cord to easily attach to a zipper or keys or anything else you can think of. I bought three, one for myself one for my dad and one for a coworker, and they like the tool as well. It would work well with the other OST tool by this company.
