Q: How much of a vacuum (in atmospheres, bar, etc) does it pull?

Excellent question, and one I am surprised no one has asked before considering such an important decision as purchasing this wine saving device. The amount of vacuum this device would PULL (which of course stands for Pressure Units by Logarithmic Length) would depend on the amount of wine left in the bottle of course. Assuming half, that would be 375mL of air that would be removed. Given the rotational velocity of the earth in relation to the molar density of the atmosphere assuming standard temperature and sea level of course we can calculate the functional difference in mean particle travel (MTP) before collision between outside and inside the wine bottle. Using the equational framework set forth by Hawking Et Al in his seminal papers on vacuum energy within infinite superpositional wine containers, we know that the MTP of near earth space is approximately 2.56x10q7. And that of a 375mL bottle is 1.56c43. By envoking Boyles law, we also know that any two pressure-vaccum systems are dependently independent with respect to their separate wave function equations. When considering these wave functions harmonic resolution, we find the average MTP difference is, interestingly, also the distance between the Earth and our nearest black hole, V616 Monocerotis. Once we realize that any given pressure-vaccum system is an approximation of the cosmic background microwave radiation, however, it may not be that surprising. As such, we can expect about 9.86×10−1 ATMs of pressure generated by this device.

Q: I have a very old version of the vaccuvin that uses a similar but somewhat diffrently configured stopper. Will these work?

Yes they will work and you will hear the click just like the new plugs. I just had to replace my old Vacu Vin pump after 20 plus years and noticed the change in the plug design and was worried the old ones wouldn't work but they do.

Q: Does this work on beer bottles?

I have never tried it, but I would tend to think it would not work. My reasoning being that wine is not carbonated and beer is carbonated. They do make a different type of stopper for champagne (which is carbonated) which may work for beer. Once again never tried it. (I usually finish my beer bottle....then again, I usually finish my wine bottle also !)

Q: Does this work with twist off cap bottles? Or only cork?

As long as the VacuVin fits snugly into the twist-off bottle it will work fine. Any kind of wine bottle especially. Just make sure you pump the air out until you hear the "click".
