I love this professional grade router insert. The design is really well thought out and includes a special tool to lock and unlock the inserts so that they will not vibrate loose. It also includes 3 threaded holes for a steady rest metal pin if you need to use one (the pin is included). My Portacable router #890 fits perfectly to attach it to the table insert. If you have this router, I find that purchasing the bent offset wrenches ( 1 1/8" OFFSET WRENCH FOR PORTER CABLE ROUTER BY PEACHTREE WOODWORKING PW2887 by Peachtree Woodworking) makes it much easier to change the router bits. I also purchased the set of router inserts (Woodpeckers 8-piece Router Plate Insert Rings) which fit perfectly with this product.

Drew a pattern from the plate onto 3/4 maple ply. Indented from drawn line 3/4". Cutout with hand scroll saw. Routed 3/4" rabbet to the inside of pattern line 3/8" deep. Perfect! Made a 2-legged adjustable height router table with fence using the routed maple ply. Made 18 shaker style kitchen cabinet doors. Routed with Freud bit. Used the Porter cable 390k sander to blend the joints. Plate has adjustable height.

This thing stinks to put it bluntly. Applying even a minimal amount of torque to the router base screws causes the router base to distort. The effect is that your router motor will not rotate freely without scarring the housing (PC690). I have to loosen one of the mounting screws, adjust the router to the desired height, then retighten the screw in the plate to secure it to the router base. I would recommend making your own, or at the minimum, by a premade plate - but drill your own matching holes so your router can operate.

Very impressed at the design, solid and flat. Well worth the price.

I bought this to fit an Excalibur 40-070 cast iron router table (for which the fit is absolutely perfect). This plate is very heavy duty, and I have no doubts that the extra thick 3/8" aluminum will hold up well for years to come. My router is a Bosch MRF23EVS and all of the mounting holes line up perfectly (including the above table height adjust).

I own a lot of woodpecker tools and like the fact it is American made and superior quality. It costs a little more, but you get what you pay for. Plate is perfectly flat and fully adjustable with set screws around the perimeter. Changing inserts is quick and easy.
