This is PERFECT for a nursing student!!!
This is PERFECT for a nursing student!!! Let me list the reasons why:1. How it looks: This is WAY better than a rolling backpack because as you know, you are entering a professional field. So a backpack is just not going to cut it. It's beautiful in every way. It has a clean look, compact yet roomier than it appears. It is a hard case so you're not going to see it droop or sag. The briefcase handle grip is sleek and the retractable handle bar mechanism is smooth and strong. Here's the best part--Swissgear's logo is a red cross! How perfect is that for a nursing student!!2. What it fits: I was able to load it with 6 science textbooks! I actually don't have that many for nursing school, but I took my textbooks and tested its loading capacity. There are 3 main compartments: front section, "laptop" section, and "clothing" section. The front section will carry 1 book with room for all your essentials. Just above the front section is a zippered little slim pocket that has ample room for a large smart phone. The "laptop" section can carry a large laptop or textbook and 2 more textbooks (if you don't like the laptop straps, you can neatly tuck them away). The back "clothing" section can carry 2 textbooks (the straps to hold clothing can be neatly tucked away). Here's the best part of the back "clothing" section for a nursing student -- there are 2 mesh pockets that are intended for overnight essentials, but I'm using them for my stethoscope and bp cuff! I probably will have 4 textbooks and 2 large 2.5-inch binders. The briefcase is wide enough that you can scoot the textbooks over to the side to make room for a 24 oz Contigo water bottle and lunch.3. Durability: Although I only just received this briefcase recently, I have no doubt it will hold up after normal use. Why? Because I own the Swissgear suitcase/luggage set and have traveled with it for nearly 20 years. And only one luggage has a broken metal framing, which is to be expected, considering how much abuse the worker's at the airline put checked bags through.4. The retractable handle bar: It is long enough to accommodate really tall people, but it's not at all awkward for someone my size - 5'4". And it's black rather than chrome, which I like. Again, that's inline with the professional appeal. It does not look "cheap."5. Rolling sound: It is not super quiet but it's not obnoxiously loud either. I think the quieter wheels actually wear out faster so I'm ok with a little rolling noise. Perhaps it could be distracting if you're late to a lecture rolling in with this case. If you want to sneak in without being heard, pick it up by the handle and walk in like a professional!6. Stands solid: It does not tilt forward like some rolling backpacks and bags, especially when it's fully loaded. It zips at the top, which is great, however, you will need to zip and unzip both zippers in order to get to your things. But you would need to do that with a rolling backpack, also.Final thoughts: I expect to be using this briefcase for both years of nursing school. After that, I plan to use it for work or for travel. To me, the collective reasons I've stated above makes this briefcase worth every penny!

Very happy customer
This is my 2nd Swissgear rolling case. My first lasted around 14-15 years. I used it every day as a university professor during the school year. It plowed through snow, ice, gravel, and grass without a hitch. It's pretty beat up looking now, but it's been a workhorse. After several years of use 2 of the zippers stuck and refused to work. But it's probably my own fault; I've at times stuffed that thing way past what it was intended for. But since there are 2 zippers for each compartment, that hasn't been a problem. It did, however, eventually suffer from a case of the "tilts" (toppling over if there wasn't enough weight in it). But that was only after I backed over it accidentally with my car! Like the classic watch commercial, "it can take a licking and keep on ticking." I'm impressed. I expect the new replacement to last at least 15 years, and probably longer as I intend to be more careful with the car this time around.I use a MacBook Pro and there's plenty of room for it in the padded laptop compartment, even room to spare: laptop measures 17" diagonally and 1" thick. I typically stuff the bag with laptop, files, textbooks - some fairly thick - frozen meals, and sometimes shoes. I like how this new model has been improved. They collapsed what used to be the 2 middle compartments (for laptop and file folders) into 1 - a great idea. In addition, all the zippers appear to be more heavy duty than before.I can't speak highly enough of it. My last one has been a trooper. The only thing I didn't like about this new one were the gray stripes on the front. But when it arrived today, in reality, they are a very dark gray - much more so that the photos show. In fact, unless you're looking at it closely, it looks more like black on black. Very classy. Thank you Swissgear.

Overall, this was a great buy for me and I highly recommend it.
After a particular grueling week of business travel carting around my computer and peripherals in a more traditional messenger bag, my shoulder was killing me so I decided I needed to bite the bullet and invest in a rolling case. Who cares if I looked like a dork rolling my bag around everywhere, I was tired of the aches and pains of carrying everything on my shoulder. I searched high and low for a decently priced bag that wouldn't fall apart on me in six months. This was the best deal I came across. Swissgear makes quality products and this bag is definitely quality. The front compartment has organization pockets inside for pens and small peripherals. This is where I typically slip my chargers and my external mouse along with other small items. The middle compartment is gusseted into 3 parts and this is where I pack my laptop, external monitor, and any files I am carrying along. The back compartment is the overnight section with enough room for a change of clothes and some toiletries.I do a lot of airport travel and a must-have for me was a strap to attach the bag to my carry-on. This bag has a sturdy nylon strap across the bag that easily slides over the handle of my carry-on and allows this bag to sit on top so I only have to roll one piece of luggage through the airport. This bag also fits perfectly under the seat and in the overhead compartment. The only thing I don't like about this bag is the masculine color scheme - black, gray, and red. But it was next to impossible to find a well-made, affordable bag that looked more feminine.Overall, this was a great buy for me and I highly recommend it.
