Comfortable, capable, and waterproof ...up to a point.
I owned a mid-high pair of Merrells for years and they were fantastic. Sadly when they wore out, I couldn't find the exact same model. These seemed similar, so I gave them a try. They are very comfortable. I have worn them for 12 hours straight outdoors doing a variety of activities and they've never hurt my feet. They are waterproof as described ...up to a point ...and this is my single biggest gripe and why they get 3 stars instead of 5. On my old pair, the tongue was connected all the way to the top of the boot. You could step in any amount of water less than the height of the boot and your foot would stay dry. On these, the tongue is only connected about half way up. If you look at the picture, that's about the third eyelet. If you step in water deeper than that (which isn't really very deep), you are filling your boot full of water.

Best boots I have ever had.
I am a big fan of the Merrell Moab Ventilators. I have had three pair in the low top over the last 8 years, putting oodles of miles on them both on the trail here and on the streets of Europe. My old Vasque Clarion boots gave in to age and dry rot, testament to the fact that I rarely wore them in 20 years. These Merrell boots were instantly comfortable. I have covered a few trail miles in the weeks that I have had them (since Christmas) and they are getting better every time. The fit is perfect on my wide, square feet. The only thing that I have noticed is that they do not breathe very much (I'm spoiled by the Moabs) and will leave me with wet socks if I wear them all day. I have had to change socks at bedtime on two cold weather camping nights because my warm feet became cold wet feet as soon as I took the boots off. You will definitely want to use good wicking socks and liners, especially in warm weather.

Somewhat bulky, best for mid-winter use
I bought these for a 6 mile hike I was doing in the White Mountains in March when it was still snowy. They performed perfectly for keeping my feet dry walking through streams or stepping through snow to about my knee. My only issue is that they were quite heavy and bulky. I can see these being great for mid-winter use but from my experience in late winter/early spring they were a bit too much

Comfy Fit
The fit is exactly what I expected for a EE 11.5 shoe. These shoes were comfortable out of the box, and two weeks later have broken in perfectly. I had previously developed pinched nerves in both of my feet from tight athletic shoes, so now I need something with more room in the front. There work great.I have very high arches, but I don't seem to suffer from blood circulation issues with these shoes. And although there is not a lot of arch built into the shoes, this doesn't hurt the comfort. The stiff Vibram sole provides all the support you need. These shoes have a nice firm cushiony feel when you walk.Another problem I always have with shoes is the back of the heel wears out fast, perhaps because I usually have to wear my shoes loose to deal with pinched nerves. A few weeks in, it's looking like heel wear won't be as much of an issue with these. The heels have a smaller amount of "slide" friction in the heel, just enough to stay comfortable. But the jury's still out on this really...As far as the mid-top heel goes, it took me a couple weeks to get used to it, but now I think it's perfect for me. You could theoretically add an extra hook and add some more height to make it a high-top, which would provide ankle support, but I think that might be uncomfortable in the achilles heel area. As it is, I have a pretty good balance between ankle mobility and support. The laces are pretty low on the shoe, so once you unwrap the single "hook" lace, you can slide your shoes right off without having to loosen the laces much at all. Props for convenience.I'll be doing some hiking in Colorado next month, hopefully my opinion won't change.

Good fit.
I don't always get a good fit going only by size & width so it is difficult for me to buy shoes without trying them on. These are my first Merrell's, they fit very well in my 'normal' size, and seem to be made very well. If they wear as well as they appear to be made, I'll be back for more.

Awesome boots.
I really like these boots . After getting my ankle fowesed I found myself having to ware a wide shoe. These boots are the only once I can ware to work. I have tried them all and I mean everything from hi tech to red wings but these come out head every time. I couldn't find the wide size in the stores anymore so I was so happy when I was ably to get them on line. Please do not ever stop offering this boot.Thank you..
