It seemed like a risk, but it really paid off (for a little over a year.)
UPDATED REVIEW:I've now owned this phone for fifteen months (it is January 2020, purchased in September 2018) and it's served me very well, with only a bit of slowdown as the months have passed (to be expected) and no major issues -- until the battery started failing a couple of weeks ago, and I'm slowly watching the maximum charge level drop until eventually it just won't charge any more. My partner bought the same phone at the same time and experienced this fault after six months (they sent him a replacement phone, because this is a non-removable battery, which has been fine ever since.) The single biggest problem with buying this kind of phone is that there just aren't replacement parts around for you to attempt a repair, so you really aren't going to get the same kind of longevity that you could from a named brand device.I don't mind: this has been a good phone for the fifteen months that I've had it and I still think it's a great choice for anybody who needs a cheap smartphone right away. £50 for a replacement phone every time something wears out is still favourably comparable to the repair cost for a premium phone.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've had this phone for eleven days. I have used it extensively and not encountered any noteworthy issues, but I will update this review if that ever changes. If this is the latest version of the review, nothing has gone wrong yet! :)This was an upgrade from a secondhand 2012 smartphone from which had been slowly dying for years and couldn't update beyond Android 4.3.1 (Jelly Bean), so my standards were admittedly low. I'm going to compare it to the Fire 7 Tablet in this review, because I use it extensively and that was my entire requirement of a new phone: is it as good as the Fire 7 and is it less than £60. At that sort of budget, my options were either a secondhand phone from a few years ago which might be a few versions of Android behind, or a budget (and risky) Android phone which would come with Android 6+.So, first impressions: it is BIG. This is a really big phone, and the 5.5" screen almost renders my 7" tablet redundant. The screen looks great even close-up (260ppi or dpi if you prefer) and honestly everything looks great on it. Miravision is pre-enabled and the colour fidelity is just gorgeous. I find the variable brightness is pretty spot-on -- I can see everything perfectly when I go outside. It's been able to run every app that I've thrown at it. The lack of a gyroscope means that while Pokémon Go does work, you can't do any of the fancy AR stuff (which the app anticipates by disabling), but you can still catch Pokémon just fine. VLC runs just fine and can handle x265 video without stuttering. The fingerprint reader works really well, which honestly surprised me because it seems like such a pricey feature. I also didn't think I would use it anywhere near as much as I have! The speaker quality is great for phone calls, but it does struggle with loud music (as I think most phones do) so headphones or a bluetooth speaker are definitely the way to go.I could go on for ages but I don't know what information is useful, so I'll end with my one (single) complaint about this phone:The USB port sits deeper than most devices, so you need a slightly (1mm) longer jack on the cable than can usually be found. The phone comes with a charging cable so it's not an immediate issue, but if this cable fails then I'm a little concerned about how easy it will be to find a suitable replacement.

Screen and responsiveness blew my.mind!!!
I needed a basic mobile phone for kids to be able to use simple apps and youtube. I own a good quality Huawei phone and Samsung S6. I did not want to soend more than £60, and to be perfectly honest i did not expect much, but... My dear was I surprised! More like shocked. The overall feel and the built quality are fantastic. Nice use of metal and plastic makes this phone feel really solid and robust. But this was not the best thing. The screen and its responsiveness are absolutely fantastic. Those are the two things I was pretty sure would be rather poor for this price, but the colors, sharpness and how reaponsive it is to touch are on par with samsung and huawei, at least for 90% of people. On top of this the battery is really decent and the camera is more than acceptable, actually rather good for the price.Overall, I think I need to rethink my approach to phonea - maybe the branded phones are not the best way to go.

A good first phone
lots of good apps, but very large and doesn't always respond to controls . a bit disappointed, but for the price for a first smart phone its ideal to learn on

Good phone
I got this phone for my 11 year old daughter and she loved it! The speaker was amazing for music and the calls are all clear. She loved how it looked like the iPhone X however the camera wasn’t that good and also lagged quite a bit. Overall a very good phone in general.

Don't be fooled by the low price!
Budget phone but works like my much more expensive Moto play and I think is better due to the side fingerprint sensor dual cameras on the back which is great and screen looks really bright and vivid from all angles amazing as a budget phone and keep up with mid teir phone 3 time the price

Rubbish
Brought this phone after reading really good reviews, to find that it's not as great as all the reviews said: the phone is slow and freezes constantly, the sound and picture quality is rubbish, it's big and heavy and doesn't fit nicely into a pocket. It honestly looks and feels like a children's play phone. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Rubbish
Wanted a cheap reliable phone for young child, at first seemed fine - good image quality, etc but found couldn’t turn it off without loosing all your data, phone sound quality rubbish and now it just won’t turn on at all - a dodgy buy from Doogee - rubbish!!
