Very tasty, I used them in my crock pot to make a masala dal and they cooked up nicely. Its a relief to be able to get authentic Chana Dal and have them be organic. They're not always easy to find where I live in the stores I shop in, so its nice and convenient to be able to order them and get such a high quality product.

These really are halved chick peas or garbanzos.
I use them in dal and they are great. They take a lot longer to cook at our altitude and they are much different than using red lentils. However, the results are far superior to lentils. Just plan and soaking overnight and then possible putting in a pressure cooker. The time on the package says 40 minutes, but I bet I doubled that.

Great product but pricey
This is a good quality product. However I found it at a local Indian Grocery for 1/3 the cost.

Tasteless
I ordered these because they have a low glycemic index. Despite adding lots of curry and other spices, they remained tasteless. They may require the expertise of someone with more culinary skills than I have. Disappointing as I really like the taste of regular lentils.
