It's out of the way when you use it as an anchoring point for your camera sling. You can also use it on a point and shoot camera with a tripod socket. It's a more secure anchoring point.

Even on my Canon 70-200m + 5DM3 I feel secure using this item, and the hexagon shape is a nice little differentiator to other brands that are normally just circular. The rubber “O” ring is a nice cushion between lens and mount.

I liked this as they are machined out of one piece of quality steel so far they have not backed out or loosened up.

Sturdy and great value. Since it's a hexagon shape, you can tighten with a wrench for a more secure hold.

I always know that the accessories for the camera are expensive, these screws might seem a bit pricey at first, but you get what you pay for. If you value your camera and don't want to risk it, this is the piece of metal you want it to be good. Bought as a second unit for my second Nikon body\long lens, protects the hotshoe while giving you a spirit level at the same time. Also need these as supplements of the screws that come with tripod plates on my bigger lenses. Bought one from somewhere for 4 before, but it was too long, there's a big gap between my camera and the screw, this one fit much better.
