Best French workbook I've seen, and I'm a language teacher
Instructions in simple French (easy to understand) and lots of pattern drills, paired with companion vocabulary and communication workbooks, these are great. CDs included with each workbook, too. I teach German and studied Spanish, and am just learning French.

No answers provided for exercises?
Bonjour à tous! I bought this book and I've been working my way through it. It's becoming increasing a little frustrating that there are no answers provided for what is largely an exercise book. There is a CD included which provides some very nice 1 minute audio stories for practicing your dictee, but again, no corresponding translation provided. And there is a website provided which I've had trouble logging into. This product overall seems to be designed for a domestic French audience and not really for native English speakers looking to learn French from that perspective. The lack of answers to exercises in the workbook seems like a glaring omission in what is otherwise a very comprehensive grammar review so it's a shame they didn't go a step further.

Half of a book. No answer key.
Apparently you have to purchase a separate answer key book. Without it, every single exercise in this book is worthless. What a scam.Update: This is the 4th edition. You can buy the 3rd edition (for less) and easily find the answer key online for free.

Misogynist Texts that Perpetuate Stereotypes and Limit Development of Language Skills
When you read CLE International's textbooks, you will find that the scenarios present men as business leaders, scientists, engineers, etc. They present women as secretaries, teachers, and, most often, characters who whine about the conditions at home. This results in two issues: 1) a lack of skill in describing women in technical roles in French and 2) perpetuation of trite, archaic stereotypes. I do not use their materials as a result, nor do I recommend them in the classroom. The last thing we need is to perpetuate these trite stereotypes in our children's linguistic lessons.
