This book is highly recommended for anyone who wants to lose weight and speed up his/her metabolism while eating well in the process. Review: Proper thyroid care through a good diet! - The first part of this book tells about the thyroid. It's a body part whose main function is to regulate metabolism. Both too little and too much activity are bad. The author gives symptoms of each condition. Not surprisingly, they are often the opposite of the other. There's also information about what we need to maintain a healthy thyroid. What types of supplements are available? Readers should consult a physician before starting any treatment. In particular, a proper diet is a must. The second part of this book offers a 30 day meal plan. Next up are the recipes for these new items. Chapters cover: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts. The emphasis is on fruits and vegetables. Several recipes feature fish. Quinoa is a good substitute for those who can't eat gluten. Only a few feature meat. However, beans and nuts are also good sources of protein. Many recipes are based on other cultures, especially Mediterranean dishes. The meal plan is a rather mixed bag. It would be a tough sell for a picky eater. Some recipes, especially breakfast items, sound rather labor intensive. However, the Egg Muffins on the Go can be prepared ahead of time. There are also several smoothie recipes. A few recipes take cilantro. Now that's one ingredient most people either love or hate. Other ingredients may be hard to find in certain areas. When's the last time the local supermarket had a sale on seaweed? The last part of this book features a glossary, reference guide, and recipe index. I found the Kindle format easy to read, with only a few minor problems. The recipes ingredients appear in lighter print. Page numbers would also have been very helpful. I only noticed one misspelled word. This book is short, but well written. The author uses simple language to explain an often misunderstood body part. Now we know why it's important, and how to treat it properly.

Really Helpful, A Must-Read for Hypothyroid Sufferers!
The Thyroid Diet Plan is a must-read for anyone suffering from a thyroid condition. Diet and weight-loss can be especially difficult for individuals who suffer from hypothyroidism, and this book outlines not only the specific foods that support healthy thyroid functioning, but also explains why those specific foods are crucial to your diet. The Thyroid Diet Plan explains thyroid disease in a simple, easy to understand manner, and also provides a 30-day meal plan that is both affordable and accommodates a variety of lifestyles. The diet described in this book is specifically designed for sufferers of hypothyroidism, that is, individuals who experience low energy, weight gain, and a variety of other symptoms due to a low-functioning thyroid gland. By focusing on foods with a low glycemic index, as well as minimizing excessive intake of many starches, legumes, and whole-grains, The Thyroid Diet Plan combines elements of healthy low-carb eating, and eating for insulin stability. The recipes are varied and delicious, with over 50 different options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts!

Glorified Cook Book
This book gave very limited insight into thyroid disease, causes and treatments. Not, at any point, was a doctor or thyroid specialist quoted. Scientific studies were vaguely referenced and, if questions about the studies arose while reading, were not addressed. The book's main focus was to promote its recipe section. Many of the recipes could be found by simply searching for "hypo- or hyper-thyroid recipes." The recipes also did not offer any substitution suggestions or alternative cooking methods and/or cooking implementations. There were a few options that stuck out, such as the White Bean and Artichoke appetizer, the Salmon Salad and Nori Sheet Roll entree, and the Blueberry Mousse dessert. Overall, paying full printed price for this book seems exorbitant but as a quick study into thyroid disease or for someone looking for a compilation of easy, healthy recipes the Kindle format would work.

Brilliant just what I needed

Not impressed with this book. It's pretty much just a'normal' diet book with low-fat, low-carbs, calorie control. It does not address thyroid specific diet issues.

Nothing knowledgeable only USA based food plan not worth for Indians. Very small meals which is not practical.

It gives you a great overview on the thyroid problem and what you need to keep an eye on. Not complicated and very clear written. Good diet plan.
