Panasonic DMR-ES10S DIGA Series DVD Recorder , Silver

Panasonic/Amazon hit my price point for a DVD-RAM recorder that also recorded to a RW disc, but I expected a recorder half the price of a Sony, and cheaper than previous Panasonics might be at best OK. I have been pleasantly surprised at the quality and the comprehensive feature list. Recording quality is outstanding.A previous reviewer complained about the flimsy jack panels. My recorder doesn't have this problem in the least. It seems very solid, with multiple connections not causing any problems.The manual is a little overwhelming, but a careful review will let you quickly rely on the on-screen menus which are quite intuitive.Recording quality on both RAM and DVD-RW discs is excellent in 4 hour mode.One nice touch---I have an old model universal remote that was probably designed before DVD recorders were even widely sold. I figured I would have to get a new one, but the Panasonic 'DVD player' code worked on this model for all the basic VCR type functions (play, pause, fast forward, rewind, one-touch record). Obviously, the advanced features need the unit's remote, which is well built, but complicated with some pretty tiny buttons and not enough different colors and shapes on the buttons to easily use in a dimly lit room. Aside from the manual, the remote design is my only (mild) complaint.This unit is priced like a low-end model, but doesn't perform like one. My VCR is going to Salvation Army.

Machine doesn't work properly. It has not remote and I have to buy another one. The repair info it provided was incorrect. I'm now stuck with machine that doesn't work.

Já faz um ano que comprei o aparelho e ele continua funcionando como um novo.Aqui no Brasil por causa do sistema de cor é necessário fazer uma pequena manutenção para que o aparelho entenda o sistema PAL-M. Quando mandei meu Panasonic para a assistência técnica, estava carregando-o na garupa da moto e sofri um pequeno acidente. O aparelho saiu voando e deslizou pelo asfalto, protegido apenas pelo plástico bolha.Ao chegar em casa, para minha surpresa, o aparelho funcionou normalmente, utilizo-o diariamente para gravação de alguns programas de TV que não consigo assistir e já converti cerca de 100 filmes que tinha em VHS para DVD.A programação mostra-se extremamente fácil, o único porém fica por conta da temperatura do aparelho quando em funcionamento, que é bem alta.

I've had this machine for a month and I really like the quality of DVD it produces. It can record in multiple speeds, more than a VCR. You can even use a Flexible Recording feature to fit any given disc. Chapters are automatically created and you can title your chapters and select thumbnails for each one. After recording at least 15 discs I have not encountered one read error, using Ridata and Memorex discs. It records on DVD-R,+R, and RAM (others, as well). It also plays just about every kind of disc including VCDs. I must say that the quality of image is better on the discs that I have transferred from tapes. I have recorded one movie directly to the DVD recorder and the shifts from darks to lights were a bit abrupt. This is my first DVD recorder, and it works very well for my purposes. Amazon shipping was very fast and highly appreciated.

The product did exactly what it was supposed to. Very pleased

I was happy to find the unit at Amazon. When I received it I found out that old worked just fine. It was a superfluos purchase for me.
