Get the proper oil for the job
I'm sure it would have been fine, Valvoline is always been a great lube. I however purchased the wrong type of fluid and had to return it.

Best Automatic Transfer Case Fluid!
I purchased a six pack Valvoline Full Synthetic TCF, simply because I trust Valvoline brand and it was half the price compare to OEM GM Auto Track II TCF for my 2000 Chevy Tahoe 5.7L Z71. It was way over due for drain the old TCF (looked very old) & refill with the new TCF service. After I drained & filled the transfer case with Valvoline Full Synthetic TCF, put my Chevy Tahoe back on the road. After a couple days of driving, I noticed the thud and clunk sloppy GM 4X4 drive train noise, that I'm so use to hearing was completely gone. Especially, when I take off from a complete stop, no more clunk noise! It's been a month and 500 miles and still quiet. I'm going to stick with Valvoline for life!

It's red and smells awful, otherwise ok.
Should not be the same color as transmission fluid (red), as stated in previous review. It's also horrendous smelling, don't spill any, and clean up your pump and bottles immediately and ziplock the pump to keep smell out of your garage. I still have a stench 5 days after replacing my fluid and spilling some. Time will tell how happy I am with it, but it should be fine, meets Autotrak II requirements.

Has the correct specs for Ram 1500 DS (4th gen) 2010-2024. Under half the cost of dealer fluid. Not easily found in stores anywhere in Canada but Amazon had it so happy.
