outstanding!
I just received my black FC Mobile II this morning and it is great to get to play my old games again. I think that they deserve credit for going above and beyond what is expected. they added a metal screw to the battery door in case the plastic tab ever breaks off (i have never seen anyone do that before), they added an AV out so you can play it on your TV (only Sony has done that to my knowledge with the PSP Slim, but you had to pay extra for the cable), plus 2 controllers and a light gun. no other game companies have given you so much for your money! it does feel cheaper than an NES but it still works well. I have not had any problems with carts not fitting snugly in the FC Mobile II and i'm going to bring it to the store to test games before i get them so i don't have that problem. the screen at 2.5" is small but i can't knock it because they include a cable to attach it to any screen of your choice, also the Nintendo DS is only .5" bigger. to those that have a problem with games fitting loosely, you may want to try asking your local retro game store if you can swap out one of your copies for one of theirs that fits tighly, i would assume they would be ok with it since your games should still work fine in a home console. Happy Holiday everyone!

A dream come true!
The FC Mobile II is a dream come true for me! I have always thought it would be cool to have a portable NES, and now I have one! The games fit into it very well and it holds them tight. The screen is bright, although it would have been nice to be able to adjust the brightness. The screen is only 2.5 inches and I wish it was bigger. Sometimes it's hard to read the words on some games, but its okay. I tried out the wireless controllers and they feel good and work well as long as you have them pointing at the unit. Some of my games did not work on it: Dragon Warrior, Hydlide, Ultima Exodus, and Willow. That's okay though all my other games work! Anyways, overall its still a great way to play NES games on the go.

Controllers not usable, single player only
I recently bought 2 black-colored systems from two different sellers and at different times. Both units had the same problems. Controller 1 loses connection with the main unit frequently and is slow to respond making it unusable for gaming. Controller 2 does not work with the main unit except that pressing the A/AA button causes the screen to invert colors. The light gun does not work at all with the main unit when I tested it with Duck Hunt. When I view the controllers using a digital camera, I can see the infrared LEDs blinking during operation, so it seems that the main unit is either slow to respond or not responding at all to the controller signals. On the main unit, the direction buttons only respond one at a time, requiring a slightly different technique compared to using the original controllers. For example, in Super Mario Bros when you run and crouch to slide under a block, you must release the right/left button as you shift your thumb joint to the down button. If you attempt to press both right or left and down, your character will stop running and go into the crouching position, and won't slide under the block). I contacted Hyperkin and they told me that I received faulty units and to return them to where I bought them from for exchange or refund. I am wondering if some of these reviews were written for earlier versions that had working controllers, for the white-colored versions, and/or if there's a significant number of these faulty units in inventory. It's a shame because, as another reviewer also wrote earlier, it's a great idea that is poorly executed.

Not perfect, but the best handheld NES
I am a collector with tons of NES stuff, both versions of the console ("grey box", "toploader"). I am a very big fan of portables/handhelds so this looked interesting. Let's start with the system itself. Well, the system is pretty self explanatory. Overall, it plays quite nicely. Unfortunately there's a few flaws: 1) The games don't fit in securely and wiggle around slightly when inserted, but I feel like I'm going to break it whenever I try to get the cartridge out because it barely comes out. Also the battery cover broke off within a week despite how careful I was with it. Since the games may wiggle around it can cause crashes occasionally. I made the slot tighter by taping a piece of fabric inside to keep the game in place. Now it's fine, but I shouldn't have had to do that. 2) The battery life isn't too great. I can get a few hours out of it. When the batteries start getting low, the games will crash. Luckily, you can power the system from the included AC for playing at home without batteries. It's a great addition, but they might as well as made it have a rechargeable or take stronger batteries, 3) It's huge, a lump in your pocket. It's half the fun though, getting attention for playing in public. It's still pretty comfortable to hold though. Also included is the AV TV hookup cables, 2 controllers, and a zapper. The controllers work OK, sometimes a little unresponsive. The AC adapter and AV cables are a terrific addition, you can use it as a home console. One thing I was really surprised about was the light gun. As long as you have a non flatscreen TV (as with the original zapper), it works...perfectly. I tried Hogan's Alley, Duck Hunt, and a few others, they all worked great. The controls are ok, the turbo buttons are a nice edition. It would have been nice to be able to plug in regular NES controllers by having ports on the system, but whatever. The screen is fairly good, a dead pixel or two but what do you expect. The speakers are pretty good an can get very loud, but the quality is best at a medium volume. You can also plug in standard 1/8th inch ipod headphones. Overall, it's not a perfect quality handheld, but compared to some other non-homebrew portable NES's this is the best. With a fairly good console and a huge amount of included accessories, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys NES games.
