The best way to stabilize a limb if needed in the field. Have some kind of wrap on hand along with it.

I got this to throw in to my first aid kit; three ER nurses all agree that it was a good choice. Hopefully the only thing it will ever do is take up space in my kit, otherwise something has gone horribly wrong! Still, it does wonders to give me peace of mind knowing it's there!

If you’re familiar with the roll type foam backed aluminum splints, you know that they aren’t exactly easy to pack in most first aid kits. The normal kit enclosures are made to reduce bulk and accommodate typical flat items in most aid kits. This splint is configured to better fit such first aid kits. I carry this in a 1.5 inch thick (4cm) first aid kit and there’s no way I could get a roll splint in that kit. Other than being flat, this splint is no different from any other SAM type splints. For more compact kits, this product is recommended.

The only reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 is because the 36" SAM splint is so much more versatile and can easily be cut to a smaller size. I am very impressed by the quality of these splints and how light and strong but easily molded to fit your needs . But just buy the 36" SAM splint instead and if you need to use a smaller size, just cut to fit.

As a school nurse, these are my go to! They can be cut to any length and molded around any injury to support it. I love these and use them frequently to splint injuries. Even the ER was impressed with the product and called for more information on them.

I bought the 9" size to use as a phone holder on the plane. Alaska seats have a pocket above the seat tray that works great for tablet sleeves or the Sam splint. I'd imagine this would work well as a wrist splint if needed.
