Works great! Highly Recommend.
This product works great to improve the audio on my Go Pro Hero 8 Black. It allows you to plug in a microphone and charge via USB C at the same time - critical for my YouTube videos. I can now connect my Rode wireless lapel mic for much improved audio. One thing to know: Powering up the GoPro by voice does not seem to work with any external mic, but once powered up, all voice commands work fine.

Pricey, But Works Perfectly with Older GoPros
I wish this wasn’t so expensive, especially for my older GoPro camera, but it seems necessary since the previous one I bought didn’t work. I think there must be a chip or some technology inside that allows the GoPro to recognize it. That said, it works great once connected.

GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter - Elevating Your GoPro Audio Experience
If you're serious about getting great audio on your GoPro, you need the GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter. No matter if you're into vlogging, filmmaking, or living life on the edge, top-notch sound is just as vital as mind-blowing visuals. With this adapter, your audio will be as crystal clear as your video.A crucial point to highlight is the importance of having the right audio cable. If you want this adapter to work its best, use a TRS to TRS cable. The TRRS to TRS cable you get with your phone accessories won't give you the best performance. When you've got the right cables hooked up, this adapter becomes a game-changer for your GoPro, letting you do all kinds of cool stuff with audio. The thing that makes this adapter stand out is its durability and reliability. In the fast-paced world of action cameras, being tough is crucial. GoPro gets this, and their Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter lives up to their rep for being awesome. You can count on it in any tough environment or high-action situation. If you're a content creator, the Pro Adapter takes your production values up a notch. Onboard microphone audio and audio recorded through an external microphone are like night and day. Whether you're vlogging, interviewing, or recording the sounds of your adventure, this adapter guarantees broadcast-quality audio to match your stunning visuals.Bottom line, the GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter is a great investment if you want your GoPro videos to sound incredible. Don't forget to grab a TRS cable, and you'll be all set to unleash your GoPro's audio powers. It's a compact add-on for your GoPro, but it makes a big difference in your content. Your viewers will dig the improved audio, it'll make your videos more immersive and exciting.

You know GoPro...
So I've had this Mic adapter for a few months now and it works fine and all.First I wish it wasn't 50 bucks. I mean that's not terrible but it feels like an after-market kick in the shin to me.As I'm editing a video I now see that this mic adapter was slightly unplugged from the gopro and i've lost all of my audio. Now that's my fault I guess. Still terrible. Although I do find the plug in to be kind of loose. I'm talking a few thou off of a smooth satisfying fit. The connection wobbles and it just doesn't feel good. There is no other option to convert audio without this device. Relating back to the 50 dollar kick in the shin.Go Pro. Guys if you're listening I don't care if you have to make the next go pro twice as large I would still buy it if I could just plug in a microphone without having to buy this adapter. I really hope the age of making devices smaller and smaller is over. I don't care if its the size of a Gameboy color. I buy your cameras because they take more of a beating than my DSLR. That and I really like your passion for 60fps.. I think you are lacking in universal simplicity when it comes to this part. I reluctantly bought this. I didn't jump to buy this.I gave you guys 5 stars because I still needed this thing. It works fine but I'm not very trustworthy of its craftsmanship when considering reliability and longevity. Of course I bought the case to hold this from dangling. Which makes me think I would have paid you for a whole package anyway. Why isn't this adapter just a case in itself? Like something I can slap my go pro into and a mic port is all I have to worry about. It's just an idea Go Pro. I'd rather you be built like an old gameboy or a nokia in some ways. I still love you but you don't need to be so tiny. Throw a mic port in there. I don't care if you get a little fat. I still gave you a good rating.

Great!
Alright so it sucks that you actually HAVE to get this becuase it is a little pricey for an adapter but you literally have to get this or your GoPro with an extended mic or whatever you use. Or nothing will work trust me. But I guess all I can say is it works I mean I’m not sure if the quality’s from the mic or this thing so lol I’m not sure anyways if your wanting a mic with your GoPro then either get a wireless mic via Bluetooth or get this adapter and a mic of your choice CYA!

First one failed after 20 hours of use
I gave this product 3 stars because I had to buy a second one after the first one failed after only 20 hours of use. I do not know the reason for sure, but my signal chain looked like this:Phantom Power (48VDC) -> Mic (Condenser) -> XLR-to-3.5mm adapter -> GoPro Mic AdapterWhat I do not know as I write this is whether the 48V Phantom Power was passed all the way through to the GoPro Mic Adaptor. It should not have mattered, assuming the GoPro Mic Adapter has a 50VDC DC-blocking capacitor on its input. However I can find no GoPro documentation that indicates this basic requirement of any microphone input. Actually, since the mic input is actually stereo, there would have to be TWO 50VDC blocking capacitors in there. I'm suspicious because in the GoPro world, they sometimes use much lower voltages (e.g 5VDC, 12VDC) for phantom power because those are the voltages available with USB-C. But 48VDC is the global standard for high-end condenser microphones so they should have anticipated the need for a higher DC blocking capacitor voltage rating.
